About this listen

It is no secret that Mothers are truly the unsung heroes of today’s families. The amount of work, errands, tasks, and support mothers do day in and day out is never-ending. It’s keeping the household and family running. It’s planning birthday parties and family activities. It’s running to the grocery store while waiting to pick up the dry cleaning. It’s making sure the kids and spouse have everything they need… often putting themselves and their health last. It can feel like an Invisible Burden... an evergrowing weight carried on the shoulders of many moms. And our society expects mothers to carry this load without question. What happens when we carry additional weight…? Our bodies are stressed and challenged in a magnitude of ways that can lead to stress, poor health. The Invisible Burden can lead to weight gain, constant low energy, hormone imbalance. It can lead to being stretched beyond reach. What’s worse is that hardworking mothers like you bearing this burden, are often not seen or acknowledged for carrying the contributions and the acts of the family. If you’re a stay-at-home mom, society often expects you to carry the invisible burden without question. If you’re a working mom, you’re also expected to carry the invisible burden just as much while working to provide an income to your family. You have so many important things pulling you in different directions that it often means you put yourself… and your health… last. I’m Dr. Anthony Balduzzi, Founder, and CEO of the Fit Mother Project and the host of this podcast… and I get all of this. Growing up… my dad died when I was 9 years old… and my mom became a widow with two young boys… and she had to fight to raise us and keep our family together. I started the Fit Mother Project and created this podcast with the sole purpose of helping create stronger and more powerful mothers through losing weight without restrictive diets, crazy workouts, or the image of “being perfect.” Our Fit Mother team has helped over 10,000 women become a stronger more fit version of themselves and we know this podcast will help you do the same on your journey to a better you. You can take care of your family and work… and still make time for yourself and your health. I’ll show you how XYZ. It’s time for you to put yourself and your health first. • Why Women Over 40 Struggle to Absorb Supplements with Lindsey Burwell
    Dec 23 2025

The Fit Mother Project Podcast Episode 178 features a powerful and inspiring conversation with Lindsey Burwell, founder of The Patch Method. Lindsey shares her deeply personal health journey—marked by chronic illness, hormone imbalance, cancer scares, and motherhood—and how those experiences shaped her mission to help women heal at the cellular level.

Together, Dr. Anthony Balduzzi and Lindsey explore why blood sugar regulation and daily detox support are two of the most overlooked foundations of women’s health after 40. They break down how insulin resistance, liver congestion, chronic stress, and toxin exposure quietly drive fatigue, weight gain, inflammation, hormone imbalance, and brain fog—even in women who “eat clean” and exercise.

The conversation also introduces transdermal nutrient delivery as an alternative for women who struggle to absorb supplements due to gut or liver issues. Lindsey explains how patch-based delivery can support metabolism, detox pathways, cortisol balance, immunity, and perimenopause—while simplifying daily wellness routines for busy moms.

    Key Takeaways
    1. Blood sugar regulation underpins hormone balance
    2. Insulin resistance affects women long before diabetes
    3. Chronic snacking keeps metabolism inflamed
    4. Movement after meals improves glucose control
    5. Liver health drives detox and thyroid function
    6. Modern toxin exposure overwhelms natural detox pathways
    7. Daily detox support matters more than short cleanses
    8. Poor absorption limits supplement effectiveness
    9. Transdermal delivery bypasses gut and liver stress
    10. Cortisol balance supports energy and emotional resilience
    11. Simple routines outperform complex protocols
    12. Feeling better physically enhances motherhood and presence

  • From Burned Out to Vibrant: Selene’s Fit Mother Journey
    Dec 9 2025

On this episode of the Fit Mother Project Podcast, Episode 176, Dr. Anthony sits down with Fit Mother member Selene Connolly, a 59-year-old mom, “Lolly” (grandma), wife of 37 years, and director of engineering who completely rebuilt her health, hope, and strength in her late 50s. After a devastating foot injury, the stress of COVID, nightly wine, and feeling too weak to even carry a laundry basket or open a jar, Selene had quietly lost faith that she could ever really come back.

In this powerful conversation, you’ll hear how Selene lost about 40 pounds in about five months and has maintained that loss for over a year, how she moved from feeling like a “fraud” inside the program to becoming a true leader in the Fit Mother community, and how she helped create in-person sisterhood meetups and hiking trips around the country. You’ll also hear her simple but profound routines: early-morning mindset work, short but consistent workouts, grounding and breath breaks during a demanding workday, and evenings spent learning new things instead of zoning out in front of the TV.

Selene and Dr. Anthony dive into facing limiting beliefs, changing the inner voice, using labs and body composition data to truly “own” your health, and why encouragement is literally “breathing courage into others.” If you’re a busy woman over 40 who’s ever felt stuck, alone, or like you “don’t belong” in fitness spaces, Selene’s story will show you how small daily choices, community, and authenticity can completely change the trajectory of your life.

    Key Takeaways
    • 40 pounds lost in 5 months and kept off long-term
    • Recovering from a serious foot tendon injury and lost confidence
    • Moving from wine and TV nights to morning rituals and movement
    • Why the first program version didn’t “fit” and what finally clicked
    • Using the new follow-along workouts as a catalyst for change
    • Creating real-life sisterhood: hikes, coffee dates, and book club
    • Letting go of old clothes, old identities, and old limitations
    • Small daily habits instead of chasing perfect checklists
    • Rewriting limiting beliefs with a simple “two-column” exercise
    • Building a life of adventure, learning, and vibrant grandmotherhood
