• Ep. 242 - Hope in Christmas Lyrics - "This Little Babe"

“...foil thy foes with joy” In this last episode for the Christmas season, I share about a song that I learned this year. The song, This Little Babe, was written by a Jesuit Priest in the late 1500s and then put to music in the 20th century. The battle cry to overcome Satan comes in the form of a baby. I share each verse of the song and how we can think about it in relation to the Christmas season. I especially love the quote by E.T. Sullivan about How God does his work. I am super grateful that I learned about this song and hope you enjoy it as well. I will see you in 2026!

  • Ep. 241 - Hope in Simplicity - letting go of a "perfect Christmas"
    Dec 12 2025

    Send us a text

“What do you value most about the holiday?” In this podcast I will share some ideas on how to simplify Christmas and let go of the “perfect Christmas.” I share the idea of taking a moment to really reflect on what you love the most about the season and then go all in on that. Then share a few examples of different ways to simplify decorations, menu, traditions and gifts. Rethinking a quote: there is no way to have a perfect Christmas but a million ways to have a good one!

  • Ep. 240 Hope in the waiting - the advent
    Dec 5 2025

    Send us a text

“To hope in God means to wait with patient expectation, trusting that he will fulfill his promises.” This week I explore hope a little more. Hope in the waiting as we prepare for the coming of Christmas or the coming of our Savior. As we prepare for Christmas, the advent can help us get spiritually focused which then can help us find just the right things and events that can make our Christmas waiting meaningful. I talk about the advent, its purpose and then share a few readings, things to consider about the reading and a reflection question to ponder on the topic of hope from the Old and New Testament.

Hope is an attribute of Christ that I am learning to incorporate and realized how gratitude helps with a sense of hope. I share some stories of people without hope and some challenging counting blessings to get hope. I also share others' thoughts and quotes how gratitude can lead us to become more hopeful. I also bring back one of the talks by Bonnie D. Parkin that help start this my gratitude journal over 5 years ago. Happy Thanksgiving friends! Here is to gratitude and hope!

  • Ep. 237 Looking back at my goals and readjusting
    Nov 7 2025

“Plan on a system with the assumption of hardship.” In this episode I reflect on the goals and systems I was hoping to put in place at the beginning of the year and see where they are. I look back on episode 204, Becoming, and repeat quotes from James Clear and Ashely Jansen about putting systems in place and making sure we have the assumption of hardship while we are trying to accomplish said goals or systems. I reflect on the systems that are working for me and what I need to do to get things back on track. I also make some adjustments to my key results as I go into the last two months of the year. Hoping this helps me go from feeling frazzled to ready to take on the day.

  • Ep. 236 - Understanding AI - part 5 - A spiritual understanding and summing up the series
    Oct 31 2025

    Send us a text

“Work is essential for our spiritual progression” This episode I finish up with the Understanding AI series. First talking about Elder David A. Bednar’s talk “Things as they really are, 2.0” from 2024. Where Elder Bednar reminds us of our moral agency to admonish us not to become objects but that we are agents. I share his reminder of the divine attribute of creating and working to help us in our becoming. At the end I share 10 things ChatGPT came up with to use AI in my everyday life - that will help assist but not take away my agency. I think my favorite is that I can give Chat a list of things in my fridge and pantry and it will suggest some meals to make. This has been a helpful exploration for me as I have learned just a little bit more how LLMs can be a tool for my good.

  • Ep. 235 - Understanding AI part 4 - AI as a Co-worker, tutor and coach
    Oct 24 2025

    Send us a text

“Will AI take over my job?” In part 4 of the Understanding Artificial Intelligence series we explore AI as a Co-worker, Tutor and Coach. All ideas coming from the book by Ethan Mollick, Co-Intelligence - Living and working with AI. I share how Mollick makes the point that our jobs are made up of different tasks and that AI might be able to help us with the more tedious parts of our tasks and then we can do more of the creative tasks or tasks that we enjoy doing. I share two different methods that Ethan Mollick mentions in his book regarding AI as a co-worker, the centaur or the cyborg. Then I share how AI might help us with education in a more tutoring role. Mollick predicts that AI might be able to take over some of the passive roles of education while our teachers are involved in engaging students actively in the classroom. And lastly how the LLMs might be able to assist us in our expertise training as a coach. Adding an additional layer of feedback as we go from formal education to on the job training.
