• 59. It Pays to Be a Winner...
    Dec 23 2025

Michael and Rick start with the Navy SEAL motto “It pays to be a winner” and contrast it with the quiet reality of life’s final chapters—where the prize for winning bingo might just be a banana. From that tension, they explore how the gospel transforms our understanding of success, purpose, and what truly matters. Through honest reflection and personal stories, they point listeners toward the hope of Jesus Christ and the eternal perspective that reshapes every part of life.

  • 53. For They Loved the Praise of Men
    May 15 2025

Join us as we explore the importance of keeping perspective in understanding God's Word, emphasizing the need for personal reflection and conviction when reading the Bible.

The main discussion focuses on the passage from John 12:43 that says the Pharisees "...loved the praise of men more than the praise of God." Jesus came and very directly challenged their position of power, influence, wealth and status in the Roman Empire. They ultimately killed Him for this.

It's easy to read this and wonder how the Pharisees could miss Jesus as the Messiah; how could they do something so terrible? Yet, the broader implication is if Jesus came and directly challenged the things you loved and held so tightly, how would you respond? Would you lay down your love for the praise of men and fully follow Jesus? Or would you fight to cling tightly to the things you love, and merely push Him aside?

We pray you are convicted, challenged, and encouraged through the discussion!
