The dynamics of conflict

Proverbs 30:32-33

Should we be surprised when we get strife? You’re not surprised when you churn the milk and you get butter; you’re not surprised when you wring the nose and get blood. Why should you be surprised when you’re forcing your wrath, you get strife? Anytime you force something, you’re going to damage it, and a lot of times when we force something, we do it out of pure ignorance. Stop and think today what you’re saying to others. Tone down the temperature; talk slower; you will be heard louder.

Jonah's Anger and the Lord's Compassion

Jonah 4:1-11

Jonah acted in the most peculiar way instead of rejoicing over sinners repenting. He got angry. God blessed his enemy, and he got angry. It was not Jonah’s great preaching ability. It was through the power of God‘s holy word that the people repented. Anger and resentment can lead to depression and suicidal thoughts, thinking little of yourself. Jonah was being selfish and sinful, not giving God the glory.

The People of Nineveh Repent

Jonah 3:6-10

Oh, what a mighty and gracious God we serve! He forgives sinners when they confess and forsake their sin. The King of Nineveh repented of the evil, and God Almighty turned away from his wrath.

What a wonderful passage! God calls the preacher. God gives the preacher the message to preach, and God gives the power to preach. All glory to God when sinners repent and turn their hearts to God

He was immediately delivered upon dry ground. Oh, what a lesson to learn that we need to call out to Jehovah God like Jonah did. I believe that the name of Jesus means “Salvation is of the LORD.”

I have no problem with this story because I have faith in my God, the creator of the universe. Some would like to look at this story with scientific facts. I look at this story by faith and my God, knowing there’s nothing too hard for God. Yes, Jonah was in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights. Jesus Christ. The son of God, declared this, and I believe the words of Jesus. What has God prepared for us?

Jonah Is Thrown into the Sea

Jonah 1:7-16

Why hast thou done this? This question came not from godly men but ungodly men. You know that we are in sad shape when the world says to the Church, “Why hast thou done this?” The next question they ask is, “ What shall we do unto thee?” These questions will be repeated over and over again to godly people that flee from the presence of God. A New Testament example is the prodigal son.

Let us learn a few lessons from Jonah today. Don’t flee the presence of God. It’s a great honor to be asked by the king of glory to represent him. God could have used anyone, but he chose Jonah when God chooses you to do a task. For him, don’t pass it on to someone else.
