  • Our Unexpected God: The God Who Doesn't Wait for Permission
    Apr 20 2026

The story of Zacchaeus reveals how Jesus intentionally seeks out those society rejects. As a despised tax collector, Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see Jesus, who then invited himself to dinner at his house. The crowd was outraged that Jesus would associate with such a sinner. However, Jesus' unexpected grace transformed Zacchaeus instantly - not through guilt or shame, but through being chosen and valued. This demonstrates that God's grace comes before we're ready, and that belonging leads to transformation, not the other way around.

  • Our Unexpected God: The God Who Sees the Invisible *Sorry the Audio is Bad*
    Apr 14 2026

The story of Hagar reveals a God who sees those pushed to society's margins. When Abraham and Sarah's impatience led them to use Hagar as a surrogate, she became caught in a cycle of abuse and abandonment. Fleeing to the wilderness, Hagar encountered God who called her by name and promised her descendants. She became the first person in Scripture to name God - El Roi, the God who sees. Though God didn't immediately fix her circumstances, He provided dignity, sustenance, and hope. Hagar's story reminds us that God sees the invisible and calls us to refuse creating new systems of oppression.

  • Our Unexpected God: The God Who Conquers Death
    Apr 7 2026

Easter morning began not with celebration, but with grief-stricken women carrying spices to anoint Jesus' body. They had forgotten His promises and lost all hope. Yet in their deepest despair, God revealed His greatest miracle. The angels asked a profound question: Why do you look for the living among the dead? This question became the first Easter sermon, reminding us that resurrection begins with hope, not understanding. Peter, despite his shame from denying Jesus, ran to the empty tomb when he heard the news. He didn't have all the answers, but he sensed the story wasn't over. Easter shows us a God who defeats death without violence and brings hope without conditions, exactly as we are.
