About this listen

My name is Chris, and this is a fun and informative discussion of Billboard's Top 3000 songs of all-time, based on rankings from the first Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart in 1958 until the end of the year 2022. Each episode will have me talking about a set of 20 songs in countdown fashion, Casey Kasem style.

The Greatest Countdown Podcast ever continues as we dip into the 2100's for the first time. 2 great songs that started out as 50's-60's classics and then were remade into 80's Top 10 hits, one song from each side of the timeline! The Stones are back with a bit of a chart oddity; Mariah Carey is back with a hit that charted between the great SoundScan dividing line of December 1991 (The biggest dividing line in Billboard History). Another wonderful instrumental, our 6th one in the last 3 podcasts, all of them classics. And 8 Casey-era songs from the 70's and 80's, including the first hit on the countdown from John Cougar Mellencamp. And what were the greatest songs that peaked at #16? Such a wonderful, fascinating journey of the greatest hits in Billboard History. Wanna hitch a ride?

  • Episode #39 - Songs #2240-#2221
    Nov 7 2025

Leave me fan mail message! I welcome all feedback!

Episode 39 discusses songs #2240-#2221, as we inch closer and closer to the #1 song in Billboard History. Artists featured include:

    | Sheena Easton
    | Journey
    | Brenda Lee
    | Enigma
    | Bill Withers
    | The Beatles
    | The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra
    | The Notorious B.I.G.

So many 70's R&B in this set, as well as some old school rock and country ballads from the late 50's and early 60's. We connect 90 years of rock and roll through 3 artists, and lots of talk about numerology. A song with only numbers in it (only 27 in the rock era to have this distinction), but they never say the numbers in the song! The Beatles are back, and Journey and Sheena Easton make their countdown debut! Come listen to this great eclectic mix (Biggie AND Tommy Dorsey??) and walk down memory lane. You'll have such a great time.
