  • Ep. 7 | Gender Roles: Are They Necessary?
    Jun 13 2020

When most people think of traditional gender roles, they think of common tasks that are considered masculine like mowing the lawn, fixing the car, or being the sole income earner for the household, while feminine roles include being a stay at home mom, meal planning & preparation, and doing the laundry. These beliefs can often be ingrained in us from our upbringing. But what happens when you are in a relationship and those beliefs don’t match? We talk about the idea of traditional gender roles, why some of those structures are outdated, and how we operate as a mostly non-traditional couple.

Are you and your partner traditional, non-traditional, or a combination of both?

  • Ep. 6 | A Fair Fight
    Jun 5 2020

Occasional arguments are normal in a relationship, so it’s not necessarily a sign that your relationship is headed for a breakup. It’s how it’s handled that can cause effective communication or ineffective communication. It’s important to actively listen to understand the concerns or issues your partner is addressing. It’s ok to ask for clarification on something you don’t understand. Don’t assume you know what the other person is thinking. Be open to different perspectives and take responsibility for your own actions. There is nothing wrong with apologizing when you know you are wrong. Schedule a time to talk out your issues if that’s what it takes to find a resolution. Whatever you do, fight fair.
