• Unto us a child is born

For all its joys this tine of Christmas is, for some, a challenging time which brings back sad memories of difficult moments in our personal histories.. Pastor Andy takes us to the prophecy of Isaiah chapter 9, - given 700 years before Jesus is born - to encourage us with the truth of who Jesus is, and who He can be to us this Christmas time. Jesus is the light shining in a dark place, the wonderful counsellor who is beyond human wisdom and understanding and completely trustworthy. He is with us, He is for us, and will guide us. Jesus is the mighty God who demonstrated His power by giving His life for us in suffering at Calvary, overcoming death by His resurrection. As General Eisenhower put it "There are no victories at discount prices.” Jesus is the everlasting Father. We have the Spirit of adoption that assures us we are sons and daughters of the most high God, and that this relationship with Him is unending and unbreakable. Jesus is the prince of peace. And whilst the fullness of this peace - this shalom of wholeness and completeness - will only be received in full when Jesus comes back, we can today have true peace with ourselves and others as we experience peace with God, Join pastor Andy in prayer at end of his message and know for certain that your sins are forgiven and that you have this everlasting peace with God.Like us on Facebook: https://bit.ly/BCCLeedsFacebookJoin our Facebook Group: http://bit.ly/BCCOnlineCommunityGroupFollow us on Instagram: https://bit.ly/BCCLeedsInstagramFollow us on Twitter: https://bit.ly/BCCLeedsTwitterVisit our Website: https://www.bccleeds.org/If you would like to give to further our work. • In all things, Jesus Christ is King, Jesus Christ is Lord
    Dec 14 2025
Jo Barnes brings a word of encouragement as he exposits the prophecy from Isaiah chapter 9. Isaiah was writing in a time of fear for Israel with national rulers failing to stand up for justice, and the Babylonian empire becoming increasingly threatening. Throughout history, powerful rulers have abused their powers which can make us nervous about surrendering to God. But we are reassured that God is holy, and love, and as Isaiah reminds us, His Son is the Prince of Peace. More than tranquility, peace (our translation of the Hebrew shalom) speaks of an overflowing fullness in which everything God has made works harmoniously together to bring about His best and finest purposes. Jo reminds us that the cradle of Jesus's birth points to the cross, and beyond that to His return in glory, establishing His new heaven and new earth. We are encouraged faithfully to follow Jesus, even in challenging times, in faith that He is establishing His kingdom and in gratitude for His sacrifice as the Prince of Peace who pays the price for our salvation. • Prepare Him Room
    Dec 7 2025

As we countdown to Christmas, Pastor Jacqui invites us to pause from the business of our preparations. From the account of Jesus' birth in Bethlehem, Pastor Jacqui uses illustrations to ask us what room we are preparing for Jesus. Just as we de-clutter our garages to make room to store precious items, we need regularly to de-clutter our own hearts to make space for the Holy Spirit's inspiring and transforming work. Visited by someone important, we tidy up and show them into our home's presentable areas. What areas of our own lives - actions, imaginations, and desires do we consider too untidy for Jesus to see? Allow Him to re-order everything within us - Jesus isn't a casual visitor, but desires to be a permanent resident in our lives.

  • Whole Hearted Faith
    Nov 30 2025

What does it mean to seek the Lord with all our hearts? In our youth-led service, Melissa shares how God is our sustainer, satisfying our deepest desires. Above all, we seek God not because of what He gives us, but simply because He is God. Melissa reminds us of the experience of the woman from Samaria in John 4 - she had sought to satisfy a deep thirst through multiple relationships that repeatedly failed to quench her thirst. Jesus gives the living water through which she would never thirst again. Paul also testifies to the contentment the Lord provides regardless of his own plenty or lack. God has created in us a desire to be whole, a desire that only His Son can fulfil. Be inspired to seek the Lord in wonder and adoration.

  • Romans Part 7
    Nov 23 2025

What "disputable matters" have you come across among Christian believers? Have you heard discussions about what's OK to do on a Sunday, or whether Christians can drink alcohol or have a tattoo? In this final part of our Romans series, Pastor Steve shares how we can distinguish between a question that's disputable and a question of discipleship. He gives six principles to guide how we respond to each other when disputable matters arise: Stop judging each other (leave that to God), follow the way of love and don't allow your freedom to cause a problem for a fellow Christian, follow the example of Jesus who laid aside His privileges for our sake, and remember that - amidst all our differences and diversity - we are on the same team.

  • Romans Part 6
    Nov 16 2025

What does it mean to say that God is sovereign? Does he meticulously organise everything that happens, or does He choose to limit His power to allow a measure of free will? And what does that mean for our response to rulers and governments? Are they all appointed by God or allowed by God? Can Christians rebel against a human authority that God has put in place? In week 6 of our series on Romans, Pastor Steve takes us to Romans 13 from where we explore these wider questions. We look at the example of Daniel for clues as to the limits of our submission to human rulers, an illustration from AW Tozer to understand how God's sovereignty works, and join the church in prayer for the nations, concluding in worship our sovereign Lord.

  • Romans Part 5
    Nov 9 2025

In part 5 of our series on Romans, Pastor Steve explores how we work our salvation - freedom from the penalty and power of sin. Our transformed life is worked out in relationship with God (our priority from which all else flows) with the world (transformation from it, not conformation to it) and with people where there is no room for comparison or jealousy since all we - and all they - have is by God's gift. When treated unfairly we don't repay in kind but with kindness. Whatever in our life brings honour to God is our worship. Whatever other goals we have, we make our goal to please Him, not squeezed into the world's mould but secure in His love as those created in His image.

  • Romans Part 4
    Nov 2 2025

How does God rule the world? What was His plan for Israel as part of His wider plan for humanity? Has that plan failed with the widespread rejection by the Jews of Jesus their Messiah? In chs 9-11 Pastor Steve shows how the Gentile mission fulfils God's covenant with Abraham. We discover tat just as the hardening of Pharoah's heart become part of God's plan to deliver Israel, so the current partial hardening of the Jews has become part of God's plan for the redemption of Jew and Gentile in the body of Christ. Whilst we can't always understand God's decisions, we trust in His character - His understanding is beyond finding out. We wonder at His wisdom and conclude, as does Paul, in worship.
