    Pastor Dave Green shares how his testimony, and his wife Karen's testimony, has been part of people's journey to faith in Christ. His encouragement to us is to be more pro-active rather than passive. We can do more than just wait for people to ask us about Jesus, and take natural opportunities to talk about Him and why we believe. Personal invites to times and places where people can hear the Gospel can be a really easy and welcome way to guide people on their journey to faith. Pastor Dave encourages us to believe that God is on everyone's case, and to believe that our prayers are making a difference.


    Join with Pastor Steve at the end of the talk as we pray together for friends and colleagues, and consider which of the forthcoming outreach events we can invite people along to.

    What straightforward, easy to remember outline of our faith can we have to hand to share with our friends, colleagues, and others who we meet and who ask us to explain what we believe? In particular, how do we explain to someone how to start their journey to faith in Jesus? Pastor Steve shares a four point outline we can use. People attending the service were also given an illustrated booklet with these four points which Pastor Steve refers to during the talk. Whilst there is more to say about becoming a Christian, a helpful starting point is to talk about the following:God loves you - and sin is a barrier to receiving that love, a barrier which God took the initiative to take away since we are unable to remove or cross it.Jesus dies for you - Jesus is God's gift to us, and His death is the way God removes the barrier of sin.This is how to come into a relationship with God - we accept our sin, our need of a saviour, we receive God's gift of Jesus, and we turn from a life of sin to a life dedicated to please God.Are you ready? Risen from death, Jesus is with you forever - He will never leave you nor forsake you. Here's a prayer you can say to start your journey with Jesus.Pastor Steve concludes by encouraging us to pray for, and to open to, opportunities to share our good news. Look for opportunities to give your booklet away as the result of meaningful conversations. Invite people to a guest service or the Alpha Launch and trust God to do what we can't. At the beginning of the Acts of the Apostles, he tells them that they will be his witnesses when the Spirit comes on them? What was the difference between the witnesses that they were and the witnesses they were to become? What does this tell us about how we share our experience of Jesus, and how we need the power of the Holy Spirit to be effective as his witnesses?


    Join Pastor Bawa Leo as he introduces the next phase of our teaching, helping us engage with the "quiet revival," as we explore the mission of God in history, and the missions of God seen through the lives of Jesus' apostles.     Pastor Jacqui Redmond leads us together as we pray the Lord's Prayer. We pray:

    • starting in relationship with our Father in heaven;
    • in worship as we recognise who God is and hallow and honour His name;
    • aligning ourselves to His justice and judgement as pray for His kingdom to come;
    • in surrender, as we submit to His will;
    • recognising our dependence as we ask for daily bread - all we need for life, work, and relationships for today and every day;
    • in gratitude to Jesus' saving work, asking for forgiveness for our debts and sins, and passing on this gift of forgiveness to those who have wronged us;
    • asking for the Lord's guidance and deliverance, to set on paths that keep us from danger, from harm, and from temptation;
    • together with the congregation at BCC as we conclude with Pastor Jacqui, praying the Lord's Prayer though to its conclusion in praise and celebration of the Lord's eternal kingdom and glory.


    At each point that Pastor Jacqui invites us to stop and pray, why not pause the recording, and pray with your own response to the section of the Lord's prayer she has just introduced, being open to the Holy Spirit to speak to you, before moving on to the next part.

    How, as a church, do we prepare ourselves for what God is doing in our land? Pastor Bawa explains the difference between revival (re-awakening life), conversion (new life through being born again) reformation (which follows from revival - recovery of what the church has lost and correcting what has been distorted) and renewal (God's continuous refreshing which sustains what has been restored, through daily discipleship and fellowship). Pasta Bawa goes on to show how faithful discipleship and leadership are the two legs on which revival stands. From the Old and New Testament he shares examples of how people have been discipled through God's leadership. Pastor Bawa concludes by showing the impact of revival, including how moves of God break down ethnic and social barriers through cross-cultural mission.


    This is a great moment to review your own life-long discipleship journey, and to be inspired to play your own unique part in God's plans for our nation.

    Habakkuk : From Troubled to Trusting

    How do we find faith to pray with confidence in troubled times? Pastor Steve shares from Habakkuk. The prophet was writing in a time when Israel had been reduced to two tribes - Judah and Benjamin (collectively known as "Judah" for short). Judah wasn't wholeheartedly following the Lord, and was about to be threatened with invasion and deportation from the great regional power of the day - Babylon. Habakkuk complains to God about His apparent lack of intervention to address unrighteousness in Judah. When God tells the prophet that He has a plan - bringing judgement on Judah through the Babylonians - this creates further questions for Habakkuk. How can God use the ungodly to bring judgement? We see how God meets Habakkuk in his confusion and complaint, bringing him on a journey through turmoil to greater trust, culminating in worship and one of Scripture's most powerful professional of faith. Habakkuk saw the problems with his nation - today, through social media, we can see the affairs of the whole world. Like the prophet, we can respond with honest lament about what we see, allow the Lord to lead us on a journey of greater understanding into some of His ways, whilst ultimately trusting in His sovereignty for what we don't understand. God has both the present and future in His hands. Pastor Steve encourages us to find verses in Habakkuk to add to those we considered last week (see below), to give us confidence, faith, and focus as we we bring our own troubles to God through intercession. to allow Him to expand our vision of Him, and to be open to new and ever more powerful encounters in His presence.Verses from last week:i) Pray for our young people their peers, and young people in the nation with Psalm 8 v2. and Matthew 28 verses 14-16 Acts 14 verse 17.ii) Pray for our institutions - national and local government, various tiers of education, and wider society with Isaiah 45 verse 8.iii) Pray for yourself - let us be people consecrated to the Lord and ready to play our part of this new phase of His kingdom building.     What is the Quiet Revival?Good news. There is increasing evidence of a growing interests in spirituality in the UK, especially with young adults from what social researchers call Gen z (Zoomers) born 1997 - 2012 . Some call this "A Quiet Revival", and some an "awakening." Whatever we call it, a growing number of young adults are engaging with faith in a way that previous generations did not. Research shows that 62% of 18-24-year-olds describe themselves as “very” or “fairly” spiritual. Only 13% of Generation Z identify as atheists - far lower than the 20% of millennials (also known as Generation Y - born 1981-1996) and 25% Generation X (born 1965-1980). This suggests that Gen Z is approaching faith differently—not necessarily through traditional institutions but by exploring spirituality on their own terms. This is both good news and contested ground. Whilst many are exploring spirituality other places, many are looking for it in Christianity. According to Nielsen BookScan data, UK Bible sales grew from £2.69 million in 2019 to £5.02 million in 2024—an increase of £2.33 million over just four years - sales mainly driven by Gen Z.In the first part of 2026 BCC is responding to these opportunities - and challenges - by calling the church to pray. In this talk, given during our monthly communion service, Pastor Steve gives us three headings and three sets of verses we can use.     For all its joys this tine of Christmas is, for some, a challenging time which brings back sad memories of difficult moments in our personal histories.. Pastor Andy takes us to the prophecy of Isaiah chapter 9, - given 700 years before Jesus is born - to encourage us with the truth of who Jesus is, and who He can be to us this Christmas time. Jesus is the light shining in a dark place, the wonderful counsellor who is beyond human wisdom and understanding and completely trustworthy. He is with us, He is for us, and will guide us. Jesus is the mighty God who demonstrated His power by giving His life for us in suffering at Calvary, overcoming death by His resurrection. As General Eisenhower put it "There are no victories at discount prices.” Jesus is the everlasting Father. We have the Spirit of adoption that assures us we are sons and daughters of the most high God, and that this relationship with Him is unending and unbreakable. Jesus is the prince of peace.
