  • SFFilm 2025 Closing Night Red Carpet - Outerlands
    Sep 19 2025

    Send us a text

We're on location at the 2025 SFFilm closing night red carpet! The closing night film, Outerlands, is a local film that follows Cass as a one night stand with a co-worker leads to them agreeing to watch her 11-year-old daughter while she goes out of town. They end up forming a bond that forces Cass to confront their own difficult past that they've been hiding from.

SFFilm's executive director, Anne Lai, joins us to share her excitement in expanding the festival back to 11 days, the most San Francisco moment of the festival for her, and how she celebrates when the festival is over.

Director/writer Elena Oxman discusses living in the Inner Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco and being able to highlight beautiful locations in the city that are off the beaten path.

Lead actor Asia Kate Dillon shares their connection with their character's old soul (and their favorite old school Nintendo game), acting without a lot of dialogue, and exploring different neighborhoods in San Francisco.

Producer Mark Smolowitz shares meeting Elena Oxman through SFFilm, how getting Asia Kate Dillon cast was his main goal, and how the struggle of the pandemic affected the film.

  • The Forty-Year Old Version with writer/director Radha Blank
    Sep 12 2025

Holy shit, we've been waiting for 5 years to have this conversation! We first heard about The 40-Year-Old Version at Sundance 2020, and we knew that we would one day interview the writer/director/star Radha Blank. And it was worth the wait!

The 40-Year Old Version follows a down-on-her-luck NY playwright who reinvents herself as a rapper in an attempt to breakthrough and find her true voice. Vidiots Foundation in Los Angeles was having a special screening of the film to celebrate its legacy and ongoing resonance. Radha joins us virtually from the event to share how she refuses to let age be a factor in her career, the struggle as an independent artist to maintain your integrity, her decision to shoot in black and white, and which famous director's career she'd like to emulate.
