  • The Forgiven King, by William Stuart-Lee
    Jul 24 2025

This week, William preached on the benefits of recognizing God's forgiveness in our lives. The Biblical context comes from the drastic change in David's heart between the events of his huge sin with Bathsheba and murder of Uriah - highlighted by his plea for forgiveness in Psalm 51:1, "Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions," to his recognition of God's cleansing love and full freedom of conscience in Psalm 3:3, "But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head."

It's such an awesome reminder of the Father's love and mercy that, in spite of any sin we commit, he is willing and able to forgive when we repent. Truly, though our sins are many, his mercy is more!

  • David's Tent, by William Stuart-Lee
    Jul 10 2025

Worship is the key to giving Jesus the primary place in our lives. In the Bible, 2 Samuel 6 and 1 Chronicles 16 recount how David made God the real King of Israel by bringing the Ark of the Covenant to live in a tent near the royal complex. He hired singers and prophets, at great personal cost, to worship around the clock before the mercy seat of God. In this talk, Pastor William examines how we can learn from this Biblical example and apply it to our own lives and churches.

Chris Warner is the Anglican bishop of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic, the group of churches which Church of the Holy Spirit is a member of. During his visit to our church, he shared a beautiful message of hope, reconciliation, and love that comes from God and that we are to share with others. God does not scold at us for our behavior, rather, he meets us where we are in the middle of our messy lives and invites us into the life that he offers through Jesus.
