• King sack Oliver, Dally M Medal, Aussie cricket double
    Oct 2 2025

Steven King has made his first big call as coach of the Melbourne Demons, telling Clayton Oliver to find a new club. The 4-time best and fairest winner wanted to stay, but was told he didn’t fit into their midfield plans. James Tedesco is the NRL’s Dally M medallist for 2025.

The Roosters captain finished 22 votes in front of runner-up Nathan Cleary to claim the coveted award for the second time. The 32-year-old will undergo stem cell surgery on his knee in the off-season, in a bid to prolong his career. The NRLW Dally M went to Broncos fullback Tamika Upton for the second time.

Mitch Marsh powered Australia to a six-wicket win in game one of the Chappell-Hadlee T-20 series in New Zealand. Marsh made 85 from just 43 deliveries as the Aussies chased down their 182-run target with 21 balls to spare. And the Aussie women’s team started their title defence at the One-Day World Cup in India with an 89-run win over New Zealand. Ash Gardner made 115 off 83 balls.
