The providence of God is His working and sovereign control over our lives as Christians and the world, along with its nations as well. We often don't realize or overlook His workings and sovereign will over all things. Knowing this, we should take comfort that even in the greatest of trials and crises in our lives, God is there. He sees, He rules, and whatever He ordains is right. It's Thanksgiving 2025 and our season is here for Americans to be grateful to God for His many blessings in our lives and nation. Though it seems there is much uncertainty many times in our land, still God is on His Throne and His sovereign will always prevails (Psalm 115:3)! For many Christians, witnessing (sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others) can be very challenging - in fact, for some it is something to be feared! I know! I've been there and, like many, still feel some of those challenges today. Well, it doesn't have to be something to be feared, but it should be more of a glad willingness to share the love of Christ with others because of what He did for us. The episode of 2Days Denarius comes from a daily devotion from a book titled, "Fresh Start Devotionals" by Jim L. Wison. Dr. Wilson is a prolific author, professor at Gateway Seminary, and provides much personal and material support to pastors and chaplains in their fields of ministry. How do we follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in ways that please Him? How do we advance in our spiritual knowledge and resulting growth that will cause us to be more obedient and live for His glory each day? Many Christians struggle with the fact that when they are saved, they serve a new Master and sin is no longer the controlling principle in their lives. This podcast episode of 2Days Denarius explores a devotional from the late John MacArthur's book "Strength for Today." This excellent daily devotional was published by Crossway in 1997 and remains popular today. This particular offering covers this topic well, along with commentary on this subject by Ron Thomas. Many believers struggle oftentimes because they don't realize that our spiritual battle is a daily one. We must have our minds transformed to Christ's image daily, along with doing the things necessary to avoid and mortify our temptations to sin. This Monday devotional starter will help its listeners grow vastly in these areas!

"Strength for Today" is a wonderful daily devotional. It may be purchased on both Apple Books and Kindle. It's a great source of meditation, reflection, and spiritual growth. It was written by John MacArthur and published by Crossway Books in 1997. Highly recommended for 2DaysD listeners!

Without doubt, Christians around the world have suffered persecution throughout the ages. Many experience suffering for their faith even in our times as well. Nigeria has come into the spotlight recently mainly through a couple of unexpected sources: Bill Maher and President Donald Trump. Both shared strong words regarding the current situation, along with the struggles that began in Nigeria around 2009. Many have lost their lives, lost property, and many churches have been destroyed. It's time for Christians to come together in a concert of prayer for Nigeria and other countries around the world who endure similar trials and suffering. These are our brothers and sisters who are part of the communion of saints and require our prayers urgently as this time. Let us awaken, feel the need, and hear the cries of those in suffering and pain. I do lead in a prayer during this podcast too. As our Lord leads you, do reach out in prayer Him for the people of Nigeria and other places.

This October 31st marked 508 years since Martin Luther posted the 95 Theses on the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg, Germany. In the many years since this world-changing event, the Protestant/Evangelical church has gone through many evolutions. Some were times of great revival and others were times of suffering, wars, and into the 1800s, many new denominations were formed. Instead of recognizing the pagan Halloween day, it's important for Christians to remember their roots. This episode of 2Days Denarius shares stories and some of the heroes of the Reformation and beyond. It will also take a look at the motto, "Semper Reformanda," which means "the church reformed and always reforming." It's always a good questions to ask, "How are we doing with that?" In the end, we discover it is a question of the heart. Are we truly following the Lord Jesus Christ and the mission He called us to do on earth? We must each answer this question.

Times have become turbulent it appears once again in our nation. With a recent school shooting in Minneapolis, some politicians and pundits once again hurled anger at those who pray for people in deep distress after tragedy in our country. This is an unhealthy and unhelpful response from leaders, who really should consider that this nation has been driven to prayer in times of national emergency throughout its history from the Pilgrims, the Colonies, times of war throughout our history, to present. On this episode of 2Days Denarius, Ron Thomas gives some response to those who dismiss God and those who call out to Him in times of distress. He also provides a prayer for the nation, along with encouraging words from a well-known politician with a much more positive and correct approach as to why people reach out to an Almighty God in disaster and/or distress.
