• Forecasting Your Finances - Will I get off the hamster wheel?
    Oct 15 2025

This week on Unsolicited Business Advice, Amanda Quick and Callie Page tackle a listener question:

"How far in advance can/should I be able to project my revenue? I've been doing this for a while now and I feel like at my "peak" I could accurately forsee my numbers around 60 days out in my service/contract based business. Not exactly reassuring when there's not much in savings. It feels like I'm on a hamster wheel trying to bring in new business while still serving current clients.

In our retail businesses, it's seemingly completely unpredictable even with 3+ years of data. The products we sell aren't selling the same, the volume of traffic (web or brick and mortar) is different YOY. That being said we're hitting or exceeding our annual projections, it just looks different than what we planned.

Is it "normal" to only be able to accurately forecast a quarter (or less) at a time?

Is my business/sales pipeline "healthy" in my industry and I'm just expecting too much of myself or the business(es)? Where can I even find this sort of ancedotal information to benchmark myself against? Even friends get uncomfortable with sharing this level of detail and vulnerability.”

    — The Worry-Wort

We share our logical ideas and thoughts, unsolicited takes, and some deeper aspects of this subject - your worth, your value, what you're selling, and to whom.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Is there even a “normal” when it comes to projections?
    • As business owners, are we shooting ourselves in the foot by doing all the things and not doing the main thing that brings in revenue to keep the revenue consistent?
    • Can we have these conversations more often? We all feel like we’re doing worse than we actually are!

  • Selling to a cold market - "Am I a know-it-all jerk?"
    Oct 8 2025

This week on Unsolicited Business Advice, Amanda Quick and Callie Page tackle a listener question:

"As a consultant/coach, I happen upon a lot of businesses that I can see need our help, but I don’t know how to reach out to them (which would be a “cold” reach out) without getting lost in the noise and/or offending them. How do you initiate a convo with a small business owner that you know would benefit from your help without sounding like a know-it-all jerk?"

We share our logical ideas and thoughts, unsolicited takes, and some deeper aspects of this subject - your worth, your value, what you're selling, and to whom.

    Key Takeaways:

    • If you're in business, you have to sell what you offer. And if people really need it, you're doing a disservice by not sharing it?
    • Are you selling the right thing to the wrong person? The wrong thing to the right person? Or the right thing to the right person in the wrong way?
