Kalle ist am Boden zerstört, als er erfährt, dass sein Traum hier auf Wangerooge, das für ihn zur Heimat geworden ist, zerplatzt. Zum ersten Mal seit langer Zeit, an die er nicht zurückdenken will, ist da wieder dieses Gefühl in ihm, dass er das Glück einfach nicht verdient. Doch einfach aufgeben kommt nicht infrage vor allem, da der Grund für das alles, Jazmine von Aue, sein Herz plötzlich schneller klopfen lässt.
Kater Murphy beobachtet das Ganze aus der Entfernung und manchmal aus der Nähe und kommt lange vor Kalle zu einem gänzlich anderen Schluss als dieser. Für ihn und die Frau, die er quasi zum Teufel wünscht, scheint Wangerooge einen anderen Plan zu haben.
