Publisher's Summary

A chilling thriller from Sunday Times best-selling author Karen Rose.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Who'll be next? No one knows....

When forensic pathologist Lucy Trask stumbles across a mutilated body with its face so badly damaged it is unrecognisable by the chess tables in her local Baltimore park, her sole concern is that it might be her old school teacher Mr Pugh. When the corpse is identified, Lucy is shocked to discover that the victim is actually another man from her past. Who killed him and why his skin is burnt with the number '1' is unclear, but it's evident that someone is demanding Lucy's attention.

The discovery of a second branded body raises worrying questions: How many more lives may be at risk before the killer's final message is revealed? And can Lucy solve the killer's gruesome puzzle before their thirst for revenge is complete?

Off putting Narrator

The story was so so, a lot of parts were very child-like in my opinion where everything needed to be spelled out. Felt like I was being talked to like an idiot

Also the narrator was terrible! She may have been great for a young child's book but not for this. If I wasnt a sucker who has an unstoppable urge to get to the end of every story I start no matter how bad, i would not have been able to sit through this one.

All in all, very disappointing.

Old lady narrator

I enjoyed the story but the age of narrator sucked the life out of it

think twice

Would you try another book from Karen Rose and/or Liza Ross?

I dont mind the author. The narration was terrible!!. She was supposed to be portraying a young woman and she came off sounding like Betty White - was not suitable for this story . She is probably a great narrator but not for this style of story- completely wrecked it for me. . Seriously thought about stopping as it was almost unbearable

Would you recommend You Belong to Me to your friends? Why or why not?

No unfortunately. Not on audiobook anyway

What didn’t you like about Liza Ross’s performance?

She was quavery, too slow in the wrong places. It sounded like she was reading this story for the first time. She had no feel for where a sentence was ending or whether people were angry, sad etc. I'm sorry to be bagging her as I dont know her but she was so wrong for this book - I was really disappointed. First time it has happened so maybe I am going overboard.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story had potential. The fact I enjoyed that is the only reason I persevered

Any additional comments?

Listen to sample before buying- it could be painful if you dont.

Another winner for Karen Rose

If you could sum up You Belong to Me in three words, what would they be?

I am loving these Karen Rose audiobooks! She is able to strike the right balance between thriller and romance and usually has a twist at the end that you don't see coming. I only allow myself to listen when I'm exercising so getting into shape as there are so many good bits I can't wait to hear! Thanks Karen! I also enjoyed the the narration by Liza Ross, which is saying something as sometimes the narrator's voice is so distracting you have difficulty concentrating on the book. All in all, loved it.

Hated it, couldn't finish it. Baled out.

The narration was horrible. The narrator had a pleasant American accent which went into a Thatcherite drone when narrating a male character and a high pitched sing song for female characters which made my flesh crawl. The lead character, a professional woman in a tough job sounded like she was in an audition for My Little Pony The Movie. Just awful. I struggled even beginning to care about any of the characters. Others have given this book good reviews but I just couldn't get past the narration. I found the characters shallow and quite clichéd.

Poor narrator

Good story but not a good choice of narrator as distracting and unconvincing for the male voices

I gave up.

Sadly I gave up with this only a couple of chapters in due to the narrator. I found her rather dreadful and she put me off.

I've physically read Karen Rose books and enjoyed them so I will try others by her but with a different narrator.

Ok story but horrible narration

The story was so-so. What really ruined this for me was the narration. The ‘heroine’s’ voice portrayal was either Angela Landsbury in Murder she wrote, or like another reviewer put it like a character from My Little Pony. I couldn’t decide which. Considering the heroine was supposed to be a highly educated 20 something, this was poor ‘casting’. Off putting.

Awful Narration

Good story but narrator was awful with silly baby voices for characters that are meant to be strong.

Really difficult listen.

You Belong to Me.

I enjoyed this. When I start a story and it captures my imagination, I have to finish. I have to mention the narrator. Have listened to Liza Ross before, she is good, but sometimes her interpretation of a voice can be a little irritating.

Not the best

I did struggle with this one , I am a fan of karen rose but this I felt was let down by the narrator. It reminded me of a scooby do adventure, all the female voices were sort of whiny and feeble making it hard to take to them.

Karen Rose is always a good read

This is a simple, non complicated, read that continues at a pace through the book.

The book is fast paced and the body of the story, where the crime happens, is over a very short time period.

The main protagonists of the story are slightly superficial and could be better developed. Like in many of the authors stories, love at first sight hits again!

Having said that, I still loved the book and enjoy all of Karen Rose's titles.

Re-listened to the book again and still find the narrator very difficult to listen to. If I didn't enjoy the book/author I might not have listened to the end!
