Incredible

In the same vein of American Phsyco, this book was pretty much flawless. The only thing that made it better was the narrator. 10/10 experience

A voice I could listen to forever...

I read just to fall asleep to it, I smoked a dozen smokes because I got put on edge by it, and I smirked at the puns. I loved the story, but I think loved the narrator more. I'm going to read more books read by him because he brings a story to life.

Better than the series, the book - best narrator!

I was reading this book as a hard copy but at the time really needed to escape and something easy to read. I found the author wrote this with a lot of wit, humour and satire. I found it hard to concentrate in the little time I had so switched to the audibook. Santion Fontana reads this so well - he conveys the cynicism and intelligence of the character Joe. I loved listening to this every day. The story can be shocking - you don't come across stalkers who seem to fit in with everyone else (they are usually misfits or appear highly disturbed). Joe even calls someone else some kind of stalker! Great story, narration and you have to read/listen to the second book as well.

A little lacking

The story is certainly interesting in delving into the mind of an obsessed man, but I expected more darkness and less melodrama so it was ultimately disappointing. The voice actor was fantastic though!

Best book in a while

Wow, this is an interesting and very very encapsulating read, very easy to get lost in it and feel like you’re part of the twisted story. Narrative was frantic and fantastic all at once. Highly recommend. Looking forward to the next book on the series.

I really liked this series. The voice actor is perfect and is super creepy but I guess that is what they are going for. Highly recommend.

Sheer Genius

I love Joe!! I didn't want to, but damn that's how good Caroline Kepnes writes! I listened in pretty much one day! I couldnt get enough and went straight on to Hidden Bodies (book 2). Santino is an amazing narrator for this story also!! A must read!

Absolutely loved the portrayal of obssession

What made the experience of listening to You the most enjoyable?

I love how the story was able to rationalize the creepiness of the whole affair. I loved and hated and felt everything.

What was one of the most memorable moments of You?

I honestly can't describe it without spoilers. And I wouldn't want to do that to you.

Which character – as performed by Santino Fontana – was your favorite?

Joe, of course. He perfectly conveyed the insanity cloaked by a veneer of normality.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed right out loud in many (many) places, visibly cringed in others.

Any additional comments?

Some of the content was a little too explicit for me. Overall though, I love the pace and sense of humor that fills the book.

awful awful awful

I should have given up after the first chapter, but I persisted. Not worth it. Jo is awful. Bec is awful. The whole book is awful. Huge potential, but never got there.

Not quite as good as the hype

I'm in a minority here. I dislike the story as i expected the book to be as good as gone girl but gone girl is 100 times better than this. I dont mind the writing style, it's more on the story itself.

Poorly written & unimaginative

I really didn’t enjoy this book! I rarely write a review but I felt I had to tell people not to waste their time!
The writing was dull and the storyline unimaginative. I like a thriller/crime book to leave me guessing or with a feeling of ‘I didn’t see that coming!’
I couldn’t wait for this to end!

Oh yuck!

Now I have absolutely no objection to a charismatic psychopath (as long as they are not in the same room as me) but this character is so full of glib and smart alec observations that I wanted to cover my ears and scream. On top of that, the narrator has the sort of smug American accent which I find a complete turn off. From this I'm sure you can easily glean that this was not to my taste!

Dark story of obsession.

Wasn’t sure about this book when I started listening but quickly got hooked. Written in the first person which made it more effective. I couldn’t see the ending , changing my mind several times as I listened. Lots of sex and swearing so don’t listen if you get offended. Highly recommended.

Best character for a while!!

Loved this without expecting much. So many thrillers out there, I stumbled across this. But it’s brilliant, which is why it’s being made into a movie. The character of Joe is brilliant and it’s great to see the story through the eyes of the bad guy.

definately not my cup of tea

one of the worst books i have ever read. The storyline was bad to the point of being offensive. I was drawn to the book because I really liked the narrator from a previous book. Im not sure if it was simply the book or the combination of the narrator but I didnt enjoy this one. It would not put me off listening to him again, but will definately not be reading this author, ever. It was cheap, shallow and demeaning. So therein lies the answer. I fast forwarded so that i could put in a review, and I only ever review when I feel strongly about a book, good or bad. This is one to miss.
