Publisher's Summary

Yoga Nidra is considered to be the state in which the Gods reside. This is because the goal of Yoga Nidra is to attain complete relaxation while maintaining consciousness. The ability to do this allows for our deepest levels of creativity and healing energies to come to the surface. One session of Yoga Nidra is equal to approximately 3 hours of sleep in its ability to rejuvenate. Most of us when we sleep never really relax and truly let go into the deepest recesses of our unconscious and our connection to creation. This is what yoga nidra provides, the deep connection to our unconscious that leads to wholeness.

During a Yoga Nidra session you simply lie down and follow the instruction given without strain or undue effort. What comes easily, you do, what doesn't, you let it pass. You will also be asked to choose a resolution, something that you would like to develop in your life that will have a positive effect on your path to healing. The seed of this intention when spoken at the beginning and the end of Yoga Nidra gets planted deep into the unconscious where it motivates changes in behaviour and lifestyle situations that support your deepest heart's desire for healing to unfold. Yoga Nidra is suitable for all, and only requires the inner desire to discover relaxation and wholeness.

Yoga Nidra is suitable for all levels and only requires the inner desire to discover relaxation and wholeness.

Yoga Nidra

This audio instruction is the best guided yoga nidra instruction I have found. The instruction is clean and clear (following closely the style from the original text by Swami Satyananda Saraswati)and the results are much like awakening from a good massage. There are other nidra tapes available on the internet - I explored several from Amazon and they are rather strange - poorly read/ strange imagery, droning vocals etc. Stick with this one if you want a relaxing, soothing result. Purchase Saraswati's text Yoga Nidra if you need further explanation on the rationale behind the practice.

Peace and rejuvination

1. Listening to Xenia is an extremely pleasant and relaxing experience. I have found the narration on most audiobook guided meditations to be boring at best and often distracting, but Xenia's voice is clear and pure.
2. The yoga nidra practice was explained very well and I always end this meditation feeling grounded, peaceful and energized.
Excellent selection Audible!!

Yoga in Bed by Johnna Trimmer is better.

Skip therapy. Yoga Nidra heals the central nervous system, releasing trauma, and allowing us to release from reactivity. With regular listening just before sleep, and just before getting out of bed, we can become peaceful, balanced, and calm, even when "triggered" by "hot topics" or family members, heavy work stress and more. Finding several good meditations is essential to listening regularly.

The voice in this YN is nice but it lacks music, so I still have favorites that out-rank it. My list in order of recommend:
1.
Yoga In Bed by Johnna Trimmer
2.
Swami Janakananda
(accent is distracting at first, but this includes 3 awesome different versions)
3.
Richard Muller (really nice meditations, a little flat in voice & lacks music)
4.
The Yoga Sleep Ritual by Ann Dryer

Not my favorite:
Swami Bharati (monotone)

I'm in.

I'm a stressed-out chronic insomniac and after my first listen I slept through the night. I'm willing to give this more time.

Wonderfully relaxing Cd.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have never done Yoga Nidra Before. And this was so easy and enjoyable.

Any additional comments?

I listened to yoga Nidra at 1/2 speed on my ipod, because i found that the Author was speaking too fast for me to relax.

Love this "book"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Have already recommended it to my sister.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Hard to think of it as a book. It is a guided exercise or experience. Her voice is soothing--she does explain the discipline before the first experience--and there are two experiences to choose from.

Any additional comments?

I've used other on-line guides and so far hers is my favorite.

Robotic and clinical

What would have made Yoga Nidra better?

A more soothing voice

Would you be willing to try another one of Xenia Splawinski’s performances?

No

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Annoyance

Any additional comments?

I've done lots of Yoga Nidra and this recording was the worst example I've ever heard. It's like the narrator didn't know what the purpose of Yoga Nidra is. The tone was robotic and clinical. I couldn't even finish it.

Not sure yet.

Xenia has a pleasant speaking voice on this audiobook meditation.
The first time I tried this was interesting. I even thought I might have experienced getting in touch with my inner self. However, I cannot say that practicing YOGA NIDRA is like feeling refreshed after a night of sleep. I felt a little relaxed afterwards, but nothing special or notable. YOGA NIDRA is very different than most meditations. It is very simple and is mainly about bringing awareness to your whole body. I will keep working with YOGA NIDRA and see what happens.

Perfect

Perfect to listen to at bedtime for falling asleep to or any other time of the day, even before morning coffee. You can use it to listen to completely without falling asleep or to help you fall asleep. I listen to it every single night.

Brings Me Peace

I've used this Yoga Nidra meditation for several years. The narrator's voice is soothing, the process she takes you through is truly restorative.

Best relaxation book ever.

I have read widely about Yoga Nidra, but the guided meditation supplied with this book is one of the best I have ever experienced. After experiencing the waking sleep you will be addicted to the feeling of being refreshed and ready to take on the challenges of the day.

Great introduction to the practice of Yoga Nidra

I had never heard of Yoga Nidra up until an Australian friend introduced me to it. Well worth practicing to relax and meditate while staying awake and conscious, that's the hardest part😊
