Prequel
This is the second book in the series but it takes place before the first. It gives you more in-depth background to all the characters you know from the first book. Bernard Setaro Clark does a great job narrating, he brings the characters to life and will leave you wanting to hear more from him.

Brust just knows his stuff!
Brust still rules the roost when it comes to fantasy world organized crime! The world is layered and immersive, and the mob war stuff is like watching a Scorsese movie. Love it!

So good - the 2nd time, 3rd time...
It's great to review the Taltos novels right after the Khaavren Romances. The Draegaran characters are much more fleshed out and familiar.

so good
I know it's his least favorite book he has ever written but every time I reread it, and now listen to it, i cant help but feel how sort of humble and honest the story is. it's small time while being tied to enormity, which makes all of his stories so riveting. I love it.

entertaining
I read thisbbooks some 10 years ago and it heavily inspired a Story that i wrote back then and was just published a year ago. you need to get used to the style this book is written in. it feels like a monologue and the narrator Has a tendency to meander from here to there. still there is this read thread, interwoven with irony and Wit, making it light and entertaining.

Great series, but bland narrator.
Bernard Setaro Clark, narration seemed pretty flat and emotionless most of the time. Otherwise, I really enjoyed listening to the book
