Publisher's Summary

In the history of New York City's underworld, there have been a host of criminal figures whose exploits have gone on to inspire. Their stories are told on street corners and in back alleys. One of them is Jonas Rafferty, known among friends and enemies alike as Wrath.

Jonas, the only boy in a family of four children, came into the world under less than favorable conditions, and he has always been a fighter. From the neighborhood bullies to the stepfather who uses him and his siblings as punching bags, his life has always been one battle after another. At night, he would lay awake and dream of rising above his circumstances, and when he crosses paths with rogue homicide detective Louis "Lou" Ceavers, he's offered a bargain that will change the course of his life.

Detective Ceavers becomes like a guardian angel and surrogate father to Jonas, teaching him the game and guiding him in his quest for power. In a short time, Jonas goes from errand boy and street muscle to one of the most dangerous young men in the city, dubbed Wrath because of his violent exploits.

His dreams are finally becoming reality, and Wrath feels like he's on his way to having everything he's ever dreamed of, until Alex, his childhood crush, comes home on break from college and gives him a glimpse of the one thing he's always craved more than money and power: love. Wrath begins to question himself and his decisions as he's drawn further away from the world he's created and deeper into the stable life he believes he could have with Alex. When Alex becomes pregnant, Wrath decides that being there for her and his unborn child are more important to him than power or money, but when he seeks to end his arrangement with the detective, he's taught the final lesson in his education: no bargain comes without a price.

Bloody book of the year

If you are a fan of road dawgs and gangster this is the book for you. This book brought me back to the older K’wan pre animal days. This book definitely reminded me of gangster on steroids. Even though this book was a gangster tale it was full of life lessons. K’wan is really good for dropping jewels in books that you can apply to life.

Family boards

The narrative was excellent but the characters need to be developed more. It seemed that this was a rush job just to get a book out- he needs to finish the animal series. There is a lot of series that leave you on a cliff without a way to job off; thanks to that this book is not like that.

Ok listen

The book was ok. K'wan usually comes harder. The narrator didn't do it for me. I was hoping for Cary Hite. I definitely will be adding this book to my collection. K'wan fan for life.

Where is Cary Hite!!

The story was good. I don't expect anything less from K’wan but the delivery wasn't as good as I know it could be.

Captivating

I loved the story. It was gripping, and thought provoking. K'Wan always delivers.. Wrath' s inner struggles, and the way he and his family evolved were relateable.
I would recommend this book to

Master Story Teller...regardless of ethnicity 😩

This deserves to go so far as being a trilogy! Because the ending left room for continuation

Love the book but not the ending

The book was a great read but the ending had me pissed. Unrealistic. Author could have ended the book better than that.

Wrath

This was definitely one of my favorite audible by K'wan. Some bonds are meant to be broken, but some seem like they would last a lifetime & then some. Whether that lifetime is meant to bring out the best or worst, depends on the person 🤔. Detective Lu Cifer is definitely a piece work but Jonas is a force to be reckoned with.
