About this listen

A small town, enemies to lovers, single dad romance from NYT Bestselling romance author, K. Bromberg.

I never thought I’d see Grayson Malone again. Then again, it seems life happens when you least expect it.

It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back my boss’s trust, I over-promised and now hope I can deliver. The promise? That I can save our fledgling magazine by holding a Hot Dad contest. Silly but viable. And if my plan is successful, I’ll have a shot at my dream job.

The only catch? Dealing with Grayson again. How was I supposed to know he would be Hot Dad Number 10?

But the Grayson I once knew has turned out to be Mr. Difficult. Despite being sexy as hell, an adoring single-dad and a rugged helicopter pilot—I already know working with him won’t be easy.

Unfortunately, he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of my best friend who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise their son all by himself.

But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with an adorable son and a bit of baggage. Even one who gives me all the swoons, has chiseled abs and a killer smile.

But he got to me. They got to me. He and his son and their messy, crazy life. And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months of stolen glances and endless laughter were just fun or the start of our forever…

congrats A L Jackson you have created a brilliant cliffhanger which I didn't see coming and wasn't going to follow with the next book, but now I am hooked without a choice. I hope I'm right and the story continues.
the 3 word repetition I can see it's meaning, the Intent to push the listener deeper to have them feel the sensual emotions between hero and heroine.
the book has a hard gritty violent story background but the words, the thread the author keeps spinning asks the listener to quieten and feel.
admittedly I felt frustrated in more places than one for the description seemed to repeat and go on forever. I was about to stop when the story picked up and away I went again.
if you like descriptive, slow paced listening with smiles and tears coexisting then this is the book for you...but
SPOILET ALERT....

In this book no FINAL HEA and one huge gut wrenching cliffhanger

Is there anything you would change about this book?

As with other listeners, my experience of the author's penchant for repeating phrases and words three times over really grated after a while; not only was this unnecessary, it lent an amateurish tone to the writing. There was a good story to be had here but it didn't get told. I felt the author tried too hard to turn this into a literary piece with a lot of unnecessary filler and self talk which overshadowed the storyline.

What didn’t you like about Andi Arndt and Sebastian York ’s performance?

I didn't enjoy Sebastian York's performance at all. I agree with other readers that he has a great voice however I think it's better suited to documentary rather than erotic fiction. Andi Arndt's performance was okay but I would've preferred a voice that sounded like less like a little girl and more like a young woman.

Any additional comments?

This story has potential but, as is, missed the mark. It reads like it got the editor's sign-off a few drafts too early.

Loved the narraters. Good romance and drama.
Didn’t like two things. The repeating a word three times for dramatic effects all the time - irritating. Then the sex scenes dragged on with over describing each move that I was fast forward through then as got
bored.

Overall story great but...
