Story
When Moslem fundamentalists blow up a key Soviet oil complex, making an already critical oil shortage calamitous, the Russians figure they are going to have to take things into their own hands. They plan to seize the Persian Gulf, and more ambitiously, to neutralise NATO. Thus begins Red Storm, an audacious gamble that uses diplomatic maneuvers to cloak a crash military build-up. When Soviet tanks begin to roll, the West is caught off guard. What looks like a thrust turns into an all-out shooting war, possibly the climactic battle for control of the globe.

Re-'reading' books via Audible
I first read this paperback book several decades ago. It was terrific to 'read' again via Audible reminding me of details I had forgotten over time. This helps to set-up the background to characters found in the Jack Ryan series of stories. I am disappointed that I can't find "Red Rabbit" amongst the other audible titles.

My First Tom Clancy Book
What did you like best about Without Remorse? What did you like least?
Without Remorse was the first Tom Clancy book I've ready. It was very refreshing to read a new style and type of story line.
The audio quality was easily the worst I've heard though. Very unclear and little or no expression from the narrator.
How could the performance have been better?
The voice was unclear and rather expressionless when compared to all the other Audible books I've listened to.

John Clark before CIA
What did you love best about Without Remorse?
The creation of CIA agent John Kelly AKA John Clark and the drug dealers and sex slavers getting what they deserve.
Have you listened to any of Michael Prichard’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes I have but I will not rate his performance as one of the best as he is just to monotonous.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes as you just want to know how John Kelly will make the Dealers and slavers pay.

Listen to sample before deciding to purchased
First audible purchase ever returned ,the reason being poor sound quality and dull narration. I do realise that like or dislike of a narrators style can be highly subjective though so I would urge all would be purchasers to listen to a sample before deciding to buy but as for for me the dull monotone style in which this title was read coupled with muffled sound quality made, what should have been a fast paced thriller, into an incredibly dull experience .

Good Book, Poor Audiobook
Basically the story jumps around a bit, and because there isn’t a longer pause between one scene change and the next you have no idea that you have changed for a few sentences. It will go from one set of characters to the next with the same gap there is between sentences. I have listened to 100’s of audiobooks over the years and this is the worst I’ve found. He does few chapters that make it worse. I cannot see past this issue myself. By the time the book was drawing to close I really didn’t care if the main character made it or not! My title summarizes my thoughts.

Excellent
Excellent book let down by poor audio quality, I thought the performance of Michael Pritchard was good despite other reviewers comments.
I really enjoyed it, i found I got immersed quite quickly and forgot about the poor audio (it just sounds like it was recorded on tape during the 90’s but it’s not really a big deal in my opinion)
I’ll listen to the rest of the books in the series now!

The 1st Great Novel by Clancy. A must 4 All
I read my 1st Clancy book many years ago and revisiting the book in audible truly brought to life by the narrato; the story of the infamous character that would reappear many times in Clancy's iconic series featuring Jack Ryan and many more "famous characters". All of the series are must read the detail in them is wonderful, time in research worthwhile. Every story is brought to life by Clancy and the narrator.
All I can say is read/ listen to everyone of his books and you will enjoy each one.
They're all 10/10; the best stories and characters will keep you rivited to complete the series. They are all masterful!

Superb story from a master author
Took a while to get going, but the action and suspense is excellent.
In the beginning I found the reader a bit monotonous and lacking the acting ability of say Robert Glenister or Colin Mace.
However he seems to relax into the story too, or my own empathy with the characters provides a subconscious infill to round off the tale.
But a brilliant story nonetheless with a fitting finale. I'm intending to read all the Jack Ryan novels in order so watch this space.
