©2020 Lissa Kasey (P)2020 Lissa KaseyA lot of negative comments in the reviews about Sebs internal monologue favouring a negative opinion of himself and his high sex drive but people need to remember that he was emotionally, physically and sexually abused for the first 20 or so years of his life. This is covered in book 1.
Such abuse will cause trauma to the extreme. Panic attacks are the result of trauma; low self-esteem is the result of trauma; hypervigilance is the result of trauma; an over active sex drive can also be the result of trauma (though there are hints of a magical explanation for that as well).
Even if someone is 'functional' doesn't mean they're not still horribly traumatised. Even if a relationship starts out codependent doesn't mean it's unhealthy.
While I would not call this story psychologically dark, most of the characters in this series are struggling with one serious phycologial issue or another.
Please be gentle when going into this series. Gentle with yourself and the characters. This is not your typical MC who has been down troden and so pushs back at the world with snark and a strong fist. This is an MC who is learning that the world is not all bramble thorns but is full of flowers too.
