I was hooked from start to finish! Great story and superb narration from the always superb Nicola Walker (my fave British actress)🙌

I found the plot interesting but the detective characters not as engaging as Rankin’s Rebus novels. – and there are so many hunting Witch that it dilutes the impact. Perhaps a team of detectives in pursuit is closer to reality but I most enjoy following one key protagonist. In this case it might have been Dominic Elder, but not quite …

So it is Witch who takes the spotlight. We are as interested in finding out what makes a young woman such a calculated, cruel, and deadly killer as we are in who she intends to assassinate, and whether Elder and the team can prevent it. Rankin expertly peels off the layers of her character to reveal what lays beneath making the ending both satisfying and poignant.

Nicola Walker is excellent as the reader in the Audible version.

What a marvellous narrator Nicola Walker is beautiful voice and read so clearly.
A good story too although I got a bit confused with the different names. Perhaps my brain is going. Anyway hope Nicola Walker narrates more.
