About this listen

The long-awaited explosive climax to the first arc of the Number One New York Times bestselling Stormlight Archive.

Dalinar Kholin challenged the evil god Odium to a contest of champions with the future of Roshar on the line. The Knights Radiant have only ten days to prepare-and the sudden ascension of the crafty and ruthless Taravangian to take Odium's place has thrown everything into disarray.

Desperate fighting continues simultaneously worldwide-Adolin in Azimir, Sigzil and Venli at the Shattered Plains, and Jasnah at Thaylen City. The former assassin, Szeth, must cleanse his homeland of Shinovar from the dark influence of the Unmade. He is accompanied by Kaladin, who faces a new battle helping Szeth fight his own demons . . . and who must do the same for the insane Herald of the Almighty, Ishar.

At the same time, Shallan, Renarin, and Rlain work to unravel the mystery behind the Unmade Ba-Ado-Mishram and her involvement in the enslavement of the singer race and in the ancient Knights Radiants killing their spren. And Dalinar and Navani seek an edge against Odium's champion that can be found only in the Spiritual Realm, where memory and possibility combine in chaos. The fate of the entire Cosmere hangs in the balance.

what on Roshar happens next?! this feels so final, and yet... like it has just begun.

I am a huge fan of his masterful abilities to weave a story however as fantastic as this book is, a brilliant continuance of this enthralling saga, it bogged down with unnecessary romantic tangents and what I can only describe as woke inclusions that came across as forced, a rude ramming down the throat of political ideology. In saying that, if you can cringe your way through the unnecessary, then you are well rewarded with a story and a performance that will rank ultimately in mosts top three, well at least in mine.

Sigh was the woke pandering necessary

A great culmination to this part of the cosmere. Brilliantly tying everything together
My only critique which is minimal is the speed of narration but easily fixed with Audibles playback speed. I listen at 2.25x speed or 1.8 if I want it more relaxed :) hope that helps

Brilliant as always

Journey Before Destination, Radiants. Listen to the Stormlight Archive. It will help you live a better life.

The best series I've ever read.

This was a very intricately planned out ending to the first arch of the Stormlight Archives. The pacing was great when I could sit and read for hours, however, when I wasn't able to it interrupted the flow and impacted on how I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed how we got a glimpse of how each character will spend their time between the two archs. This is my favourite Stormlight Archives novel so far as it followed all the different characters point of views in an equally engaging way.

Sound Epic Ending., and beginning....

Enjoyed this a lot, with some Stormlight is my favourite fiction series ever, and this was an awesome finale for the first arc. Some incredible moments for these characters that have taught me so, so much. Genuinely the only fiction series that have markedly improved my life.

That said, I felt like the pacing was super odd at times. Almost too many things happening at once. Too many loose ends being tied up, too many ‘slightly forced’ twists and turns and events. I’ve never felt this in a Stormlight book before. I guess the book was already getting so long so Sanderson has to try condense all the ‘tentative endings’ ASAP. but just felt like a ‘sanderlanche’ for 75% of the book straight, rather than a final climactic showdown.

Still enjoyed it, still shed some tears, but didn’t quite hit as hard as I would have imagined. Again, this is my first listen and slightly distracted, and I will be returning to this many times as with previous books in the series.

Love and confusion

Character development and pay out was superb. This is one you will need to have read the other 4 books in the series to fully understand and appreciate but nevertheless it stands out as one of the best books in the cosmir

Superb book!

This is a really great story and I love the telling of it by the excellent narrators. Wonderful character development in another great cosmere world. Looking foward to the next book!

epicly cool

As the gap between the publication of book 4 and book 5 was so long a detailed summary of previous events and characters was needed. Without such an introduction it was well into book 5 before the events, characters and story line made sense.
