Schillers Werk ist äußerst umfangreich und vielseitig. Er gilt neben Wieland, Goethe und Herder zu den wesentlichen Vertretern der Weimarer Klassik. Seine Dramen und Balladen zählen zu den bekanntesten Werken in deutscher Sprache.
