Excellent well crafted story. Of particular interest is the references to the role of Italy in the Second World War.

It’s like you are in Venice

I had a great time listing to this book. I am a big fan of crime stories especially when it is set in my favourite city. i enjoyed the realism from this book which i am yet to see in other crime books based in Venice

Enjoyable Story

One of the enjoyable aspects of the Audible books is usually the excellent Italian pronunciation by English speaking narrators. In this case however, the hard c’s in the names Chiara and Tabaccaio are pronounced as soft c’s. I found this off-putting as I usually enjoy the Italian language when used in the Donna Leon books.

Some poor Italian pronunciation

Having enjoyed the previous 10 books read by others, I was disappointed with this reading.
The Italian pronunciations became unbearable by chapter 6 when he mispronounced one of the main characters' name. I stopped listening.

Narrator ruined it for me.
