Publisher's Summary
Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges and incredible experiences of her earlier years.
It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross country road trip, saying good-bye to her father in a way only he could have understood and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy and healthy place she is today.
It is the first book Drew has written about her life since the age of 14.

underwhelming
given that Drew Barrymore has lead an unusual life - child star, institutionalised, emancipation etc this is an incredibly boring book. I'm site she would have some really interesting stories to tell but seems she only wants to share the mundane details. her narration isn't great, speaking like a teenager and lots of unnecessary screaming. struggled to maintain interest to finish it

Very dramatic, very loud and very irritating.
Life's too short to finish reading books that are this much of a chore. I got to exactly half way through and I just can't continue. I read these sort of books cause I love learning things about actors I like, I like humanising them and hearing about things that I can relate too. However, Drew just becomes less relatable, the drama of her learning to do laundry made me want to quit this read. I can't relate to her endless optimist, and while it's cool that she has it, but people that are so far away from what I am, seem fake to me. I know that they might not be, but thats just the way it feels. The endless optimism, screaming and drama made this book something I have to drag myself through rather than enjoy. Oh and the freaking number of information she remembers from when she was young is weird, I remember hardly anything. Okay this review seems like me just ripping into her, I like Drew's films and fans should give this a shot. Just maybe not with headphones, cause she tends to scream a lot. The book seems to have an okay flow, even through she keeps jumping between different places in her life. All in all, this read is just not for me.

Not what you're expecting!
I have discovered that my favourite way to read memoirs or autobiographies is to listen to the author reading them themselves on audiobook. I knew the moment I saw this book on the shelves in the states I had to have it so I saw that it was released on audiobook 2 days later in the UK and pre-ordered it immediately. This was another book that I flew through. I found myself trying to listen at all points of the day, not just during my commute to and from school.
I really like the fact that this book has come out just meow, Drew Barrymore has been fairly quiet of late whilst she has concentrated on her family, I really respect this but it was great to hear something from her that was a little bit different. This book is a mixture of stories, letters, anecdotes, funny things, poems, sad things but full of openness and honesty!
Obviously Drew has been in the film industry for many, many years and so must have a wealth of stories to shares but I think some of my favourite stories had nothing to do with the film industry but involved road trips and relationships and every day activities and though processes that we all have. Something which really came out of the book for me was the fact that he built herself up from literally nothing. She moved out of home very very young, had a rather public fall from grace and yet has her own film company, a reputation most actors would kill for and still managed to have a healthy marriage and healthy children! Needless to say I am envious of her.
I don't think you necessarily have to be a Drew Barrymore fan to be able to enjoy this book, or even be particularly interested in her films. Of course I felt like watching some of her films as I was reading this, and I did, but in think it was just really interesting to hear about how she motivates herself, how she celebrates the joy and how she copes with the difficulties that life throws at us all. This was a really compelling read and something I am and have been recommending to everyone!

I totally loved listening to this book and fell in love with Drew, the way she reads it is colourful and inspiring, I love the way that all her misfortunes in her early life have given her the strengths to get to where she is today a bit like me as I am the same age! I'm so glad she got her happy ending!

Drew is my new BFF
I LOVED this book! Why? Because it's honest , hilarious, real, interesting, inspiring and so wise. The best part was having Drew narrate it. I am a mother of 5 in her early 40's but I feel that this book is for everyone, maybe particularly for us girls. I shared it with my 15 year old daughter and she also loved it too. This one is definitely going under the tree to all my girlies so that they can get inspired to love and live life to the full. ❤️

Too much screaming
I was genuinely interested in the book and at first I was excited to hear Drew herself narrate it. However, she screams a lot and even fake cries at some points, which made listening to it very unpleasant. I also felt like the volume was all over the place. I would enjoy reading this more than listening to it.

having been a long time fan of Drew Barrymore I found this book very enlightening to the real Drew Barrymore that nobody sees. was glad that the book wasn't all about behind-the-scenes stories from all her films but rather how long sad and happy struggle to the place she is at now. I would recommend this book for anybody who even likes drew just a little, because when you finished it you will have her a lot more. although Fair Warning she does shout a lot.
