Pretty Inspiring

Great book! Made me want to go on an adventure an explore new things. I recommend it, even if you don't hunt.

Good stories

This book was a good collection of stories from an Alaskan hunting/fishing guide. There was no major point or story line necessarily, but a good/entertaining recollection of the life and times of the authors adventures in Alaska. I felt the narrator did a decent job, but was a poor fit for the story.

Too Much Religion

I wanted to hear about hunting in Alaska, not about how God kept him from death in a plane crash or how a hunter had to be satisfied with a certain buck because that was the one God presented to him.

Who chose the narrator?

I’ve read this book multiple times in it’s printed form and each time come away very moved from the stories that are shared.
I found it very hard to listen to this book in this form as the narrator did not fit the subject. Imagine the big burly Alaskan guide with the full beard. Listening to this narration all I could picture was a singsong college professor reading it as a bedtime story.
My advice skip the audiobook and go for the printed version

Insightful tales

If the Alaskan wilderness interests you, takes from Rocky’s camp will fascinate you. I enjoyed listening to it all.
