Publisher's Summary

Valentine, a blind, confused old man on his deathbed, seeking his peace with God, makes his last confession to a visiting friend, Thomas Lyon, mistaking him for a priest. This puts Thomas in a moral dilemma. Wild horses wouldn't drag from a priest the secrets of the confessional. Engaged in directing a film set in the world of racing, Thomas finds that the solution to this quandary could mean the difference between life and death.

You have to love a good Francis novel.

Where does Wild Horses rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As with many Francis novels it would rank above average. Keeps you thinking.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Kept you thinking,, kept my interest wondering what would come next.

Another gem from Dick Francis

As with most of his novels, Dick Francis chooses a subsidiary theme in addition to that of horse racing. In this case, he chooses two: film making, and knives. Both are extraordinary - gripping and full of inside knowledge.

As usual, the central character is honest and likeable. He goes out of his way to care for the vulnerable, even though his own life is in the balance.

Dick Francis's love for, and special relationship with horses is evident as usual. His description of the filming of the wild horses at dawn is beautiful, and very moving. All in all, this is a really smashing book. Highly recommended!

Wild Horses

As always Dick Francis writes a gripping thriller. I found it very difficult to stop listening to this as the tension built up. Tony Britton has the perfect voice to listen to and manages to change his voice for each character which adds to the enjoyment of the story.

So enjoyable

I loved the book many years ago and the audio version was top notch. I've held off getting another audio book by this author as the recording quality of the last one was so bad, but I'm pleased I tried again.

Fantastic!
the imagery is outstanding!

Why watch a movie when the written word is so
ivoicecative. Dick Francis is a wizard for writing words that form mental images.

Brilliant reading marred by minor detail

The mispronunciation of Happisburgh (the pp is silent) was the only niggle in an otherwise great, gripping reading
