Der hölzerne Einbanddeckel war an manchen Stellen schon wurmstichig, und eine der ledernen Klappen hatte die Maus zernagt. Seit meines Großvaters Tode war im Hause niemand gewesen, der darin hätte lesen können; was Wunder, wenn die Tierlein Besitz nahmen von Cochems "Leben Christi" und aus dem "geistlichen Schatz" ihre liebliche Nahrung zogen.
