Po wypadku na Zawracie Wiktor Forst był zmuszony pogodzić się z tym, że jego zdrowie nigdy nie wróci do poprzedniego stanu. Pożegnał się z bieganiem, a także chodzeniem po Tatrach. Osiadł w Krakowie i niespodziewanie w końcu poukładał sobie życie, odnajdując jego sens w rodzinnej egzystencji z Dominiką i jej dziećmi.
