The story was brilliant, I’d describe it as a thrilling romantic suspense book with great spice/sizzling chemistry, brilliant characters, and a plot that kept me engrossed from start to finish. It felt more like a (cerebral yet low violence) FBI thriller movie with a hot romance subplot a lot of the time - which I LOVED. Listened to the whole thing in one day; it was definitely worth staying up late to finish.
Thomas Oakley was PERFECTION as Connor, his voice is just sexy AF… this narrator is up there with my personal fave audiobook voice, the GOAT Jacob Morgan (but Thomas is now a very close second). 5/5 stars for him!
Unfortunately I had to give 4 stars overall for performance because I can’t give the person who narrated Tabby more than 3 stars. I was really disappointed because I adore the character, but was super put off by the voice of this woman. The way she spoke during the dialogue came across pretty unnatural at times, and the way she spoke during the spicy scenes was kinda bad most of the time, and every now and again it was downright cringey. And just the voice didn’t match the sharp and brainy character at all… sounded almost like a ditzy bimbo at times. I LOVED the female narrator for book 1 so I was bummed at how badly they casted this one.
However, the story itself is chefs kiss. Can’t wait to start book 3 now.
