Story
Milo. Unusual. Quirky. Different. I’ve heard it all. I’ve accepted I’m not for everyone. When I find out I inherited a bookstore and apartment on a small East Coast island, I jump at the chance for a new life. Turns out I’ve also inherited a sexy, tattooed guy who not only rents the space next to my store but my apartment too. Gideon. I wasn’t looking for a roommate, but it’s not like I can stay at Milo’s place while he’s banished to a hotel. According to Milo, we’re bestie goals. And if he doesn’t wear pants at home, who am I to complain?

Story
The worst part of being in love with my straight best friend is the fact he’s too oblivious to see it. Years of pining have left me exhausted, and I need a break from Dex. I need space to get over my feelings. But when his relationship falls apart and he turns to me for comfort, I cave immediately. If there’s one thing I hate more than being hurt, it’s seeing Dex struggle. I can’t leave him in a time of need, even if my friends say it’s my biggest downfall. They say Dexter Mitchale is my weakness, but if that’s true, I don’t want to be strong.

I’m a SEAL. Or rather, I was. Retired at the grand old age of 38, I’m at loose ends. My best friend wants me to join his security team. I’m not sure I’m bodyguard material, but he needs someone to protect his kid brother. How hard can spoiled brat duty be? Somehow, I missed the part where former child star Danny Love went from dorky TV darling to all grown up and disturbingly attractive. All the gossip about his wild ways fails to mention that he’s trying hard to clean up his act.

Story
I was 14 when my dad married Lane’s mom and our families became one, when my favorite moments were those spent staying up all night, talking, or watching Lane create art. There aren’t many things more inconvenient than loving your stepbrother. I know the limits, and that’s pushing them too far. Over the years, I’ve pulled away from him. It was easier when he left for New York, but now he’s back, not only in Atlanta, but in my home, trying to get back what we lost. How can I tell my own stepbrother that I want him in my bed? That I want to call him mine?

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

I spent college worrying about responsibilities and earning my teaching degree, so before graduation and moving to Atlanta with my best friend, Ross, I figure I deserve a little fun. I’ve never been with an older man, but the guy at the bar grabs my attention and doesn’t let go…for multiple rounds, all night long. The next day, when Ross introduces me to his dad, the last thing I expect is for him to be my hookup from the night before, in town from Atlanta for his son’s graduation. Story
Lieutenant Kieran Bailey never saw his life anywhere but the bustling streets of Chicago - but then again, he never saw his life with a boyfriend, either. That all changed when he fell in love with bombshell CEO Sebastian “Bash” Vogel. But it’s one thing to fall in love. It’s another to try to build a life together when you live hundreds of miles apart.
Publisher's Summary
Ryan
Kind, caring, and protective. Those are the three qualities I’m looking for when it comes to my dream man. In a city as big as Chicago, you wouldn’t think he would be that hard to find, right?
Wrong. Sure, my boss found a super-sexy detective and my best friend fell madly in love with the most eligible bachelor around. But the only person I’ve met recently is a broody bad boy who saved me at a sketchy pub.
He’s grumpy, rude, and honestly, not that likeable at all. Hardly my “dream” guy.
So why can’t I stop thinking about him?
Jameson
I don’t do friendships. I don’t do relationships either. The very last thing I’m looking for in life is to fall in love and live happily ever after.
So saving some rich guy from losing his wallet is the last thing I want to do on a Friday night. Especially when he looks like someone who just stepped off the cover of GQ.
Fate seems to have other ideas, though, and every time I turn around, he’s there.
A wicked heat simmers between us, threatening to ignite, and though I’ve been trained to put out the flames, I can’t help but think: What’s the worst that could happen if I let this desire burn out of control?
Wicked Heat is book one of two in Ryan Carrigan and Jameson Clarke's story.

Wow, Ella and Charlie equals absolute perfection. Ryan is helping a mate when Mitch accosts him at a bar, Jameson the Firefighter steps in to save the day. Fun to watch as they keep running into one another and end up being room-mates. Sparks fly and can't wait for the next in this wonderful universe

not sure if I will read the rest of the series
I normally like Ella's Frank books. I even reread several of her books including the series that this book is a spin-off of.... but I just don't know if I can get past the whiny, self pitting character Jamieson.
Half the book I wanted to slap him upside the head and tell him to get a life. He is not a character I can root for and want to see him grow and find his happily ever after.
Ryan is not much better. He chose this whiner over his friends who are good people (you know this from the orginal series) when Jamieson stomps out of an important charity event like a child that Ryan friends invited him to and makes a scene. I guess I don't understand why Ryan didn't defend his boss and friends when he went after him.
I am rambling now... I will just end that it is not her best work and I not sure at this point if I would waste a credit to listen to the next book in the series

Good story. Good narration.
This story had all the elements you can expect from an Ella Frank romance, a romantic connection that shouldn't work, plenty of steamy scenes, at least one pulse-pounding moment that shakes up the status quo, and a moral lesson.
I liked Jameson. I am still trying to get a feel for Ryan's personality. Half of the steamy scenes were interesting, and the other half were okay. I am really hard to impress in that category though. I like to see more personal connections than read well constructed erotic scenes. (Yes, that is a pretty good explanation of what it means to be demisexual.)
Charlie David has a pleasant voice, but he does tend to use unexpected pronunciations sometimes. Having grown up in the backwoods, I try to avoid passing judgement on how people pronounce certain words and names. Narration was good overall.
Yes, I will be reading/relistening to the whole series. Probably more than once.

Who Saves Who?
Gah! I absolutely love books where the characters stick with you long after the last page. Even a week later after reading their story, I still had Ryan and Jameson rattling around in my head. I loved their story so much so, that I knew this was going to be a must listen when it came out. When I saw it was Charlie David, I couldn’t purchase this fast enough. Once again Charlie did a fantastic job bringing the characters that Ella writes to life. Charlie sucked me right back into their story as if it was brand new to me. He did such a wonderful job with the ups and downs, the sexy times, the action and all the moments in between. Ryan and Jameson’s story just drew me in and wouldn’t let go. I loved how they first met and how their relationship grew. We had previously met Ryan in The Prime Time series, and I was so excited when we found out he’d be getting his story. Ryan has such a huge heart. Jameson is such a complex man, and I love how Ryan wants to be so present for Jameson. Jameson tries to put out a gruff exterior, but it was wonderful seeing his heart soften towards Ryan. I loved how their relationship turned to more, and the steamy sexy times they shared. That first kiss…holy hotness!! Along the way I was ecstatic to visit with some of my favorite characters in Ella’s Chicagoverse. I’m super eager to see how part two of their story unfolds!

This book wad 1 hour and 57 minutes of wicked fun and enjoyment. Ryan and Jameson's story is through and through Ella Frank from start to finish.
There's not anything new about the plot but honestly I don't expect that having read 1000s of books. It works and is very well written which is what matters to me.
I absolutely love Charlie David's narration. He made Ryan and Jameson come alive and an extra dimension.

Expectations not met.
I am a fan of this author. However, some of the writing presented immature in this book. Well, the writing flowed well but the conversations with Ryan, Jude and Gabe were like listening to jr. high boys giggle and gossip. The descriptions if Jamison's feelings were redundant. J's constant self depreciation was annoying. Simply, I could not connect with any of the characters. This was almost a DNF but I hate leaving things unfinished.
I can't recommend this book but the author has many other books that are big recommendations.

O. M. G. This book was sooo good. I love how the characters are brought together. It was definitely not what I expected. Idk why since I’ve been through so many of the Ella/Brooke series. It’s not all sunshine and loveydovey and Ryan and Jameson are a bit different from their previous characters but just as amazing. I can’t wait for the second book.

4.5 Stars!
Wicked Heat is book 1 in the Chicago Heat series and what a great introduction it is!
We met Ryan in the Primetime series as Alexander Thorne's PA extraordinaire, and now we get to know him a bit better. He's fairly down-to-earth, efficient, and sweet. Other than having had to help his parents and brother when his brother was sick growing up, he's had an idyllic life. Jameson's life hasn't been easy, from growing up on Chicago's south side, to his parents and sister being drug addicts and his sister running away, to his best friend dying in the line of duty, and on top of it all, being evicted from his apartment and having to find a new place to live in. There's a spark from the first time they meet, but Jameson is not the most trusting of guys, so it takes a twist of fate—Ryan renting a room in his apartment, and Jameson turning in to see it, and then Ryan nursing Jameson back to health after a nasty flu—for Jameson to start opening up to Ryan.
Ryan and Jameson are opposites in almost every way, but they fit well together. Their chemistry is off the charts and I loved them together.
There's some angst, and I thought for a second Ms. Frank was going to leave me hanging until book 2, but thankfully the book ends on a good, hopeful note and I loved that last part so much (especially that last sentence), even if I was tearing up just before it, so now it's just a matter of waiting for Wicked Flame. Overall, a riveting start for Ryan and Jameson's story, with some noteworthy cameos by Xander Thorne and Sean Bailey. Definitely recommendable!
Charlie David's narration was great as always. His voice is pleasant and he did an amazing job bringing Jameson and Ryan to life for me. Super recommendable!

Sooo good and sexy!!!
I have an amazing time listening this audiobook! Charlie David did an amazing job narrating this book, I love his voice he sounds so sexy, yum!
Jameson Clarke is the new guy at the fire department (the same one that Kieran recently left) he is grumpy, rude and no interested in making friends, his background makes him hard to trust and he think he is not worthy. I absolutely love how this two meet and it was fate that they continued to meet again and again.
This is a grumpy/sunshine, opposites attracted, closer proximity romance. Jameson is in denial of his feelings and since meeting Ryan he starts to open a little bit. Ryan can’t stop thinking about Jameson even if he is definitely not Prince Charming. I love how they start with friendship and later they take the next step, it’s was inevitable their attraction was really strong. I like that this book didn’t end on a cliffhanger, it was a HFN and this two would need to trust each other for their relationship developed.
This two were smoking hot together and have a great chemistry! I highly recommended!

GQ and the Grump
GQ and the Grump drew me in and I couldn't wait to turn each page.
Oh Ryan, I have been waiting for you to find your "one", and the Grump that is Jameson is so perfect for you. This book should be called GQ and the Grump like on Ella's teasers haha.
They just fit so well - opposites really do attract. Ryan was kind of like a puppy, wanting Jameson's time. I don't mean that in a demeaning way, just in a way that he knows what he wants and he is going after it,and fighting for it - hard.
Jameson, well I just don't have words enough for my feelings for him. I hurt, I loved, I wanted more.
Now, we know this is going to be a bit of a cliffy going in as it i book 1, but it wasn't too bad, it just wanted me leaving more, needing to know what happens next with our lovelies.
Was great seeing more of characters in their world that we have come to adore. and am looking forward to book 2
It was good to see Charlie David back in Ella Frank world, and he really brought these guys to life

4 stars
Ohhh I'm really interested in Jameson's back story or more scenes with his younger sister sounds like a bit of dark trauma/drama there. It was basically serendipity with Jameson and Ryan constantly running into with each other. But Jameson doesn't "do" relationships, but I'm sure Ryan is going to change his mind. Look forward to the conclusion.
Narrator Charlie David did an excellent job with all of the characters.
