Publisher's Summary

Leonard Ravenhill's call to revival is as timely now as it was when it was published over 50 years ago. The message is fearless and often radical as he expounds on the disparity between the New Testament church and the church today. Why Revival Tarries contains the heart of his message. AW Tozer called Ravenhill "a man sent from God" who "appeared at [a] critical moment in history", just as the Old Testament prophets did. Included are questions for group and individual study. Ravi Zacharias refers to this as "the book that shaped me...more dramatically than any other".

Improvement in Narration

The narration seemed to have come from a robot or some artificial intelligence- it didn’t seem human in some parts - the cohesion, linking phrases or sentences to the next, etc. Overall, it’s a powerful book. I had the paper version!

narrator

I tried to listen but the narrators style for reading this takes away from the impact of the topic. He speaks clearly but far too soft a tone for a Ravenhill book.

Too Passive Voice for a Fiery Message

I have read some of the harsh reviews from those before me and I thought I would give this narrator a chance. But after listening to the voice narration, I found there were some accurate descriptions. Yes, William Crockett, the narrator, does have a good voice for narration, but not for this book. The spirit of the author, Leonard Ravenhill, and the spirit of the book is a fiery passion for the lost and to get the church back on track to win the lost. A voice narration of the book should convey that passion of the book to its listeners. The tone of the voice is so passive and tranquil that the book loses the fire and urgency it deserves. I could almost take the narration and put ambient music for sleep behind it. I would suggest for future narrators to look up authors on YouTube to gain a sense of the author's personality and passion for the material and try to convey that to the listening audience. As for Leonard Ravenhill, a good sermon to look up is "The Cost of Discipleship."

A Classic and Powerful Book!

This book is so convicting and has such piercing truth to change your life! Do not read it if you don't want to be deeply challenged and change your life. If the modern church received and applied this book's message we would see the church arise with fresh power and passion to bring the love and gospel of Christ to a lost and broken world. I highly recommend this book. It has disturbed me to see my own lack of prayer and true spiritual power in my Christian life and has put a zeal in my heart to change. May the Lord Jesus use the message in this book in a mighty way in your life!
