About this listen

This standalone is best enjoyed when you don't read any reviews or spoilers. Going in blind is best. Trust me.

When my eyes are closed, the monster can't see me.

When I sing a song in my head, the monster can't hear me.

When I pretend my bedroom is a playground where I play hide-and-seek, the monster can't find me.

The darkness should frighten me.

I should worry I'll find more monsters...monsters scarier than him.

But I'm not afraid.

It's safe here.

When I'm inside of my head....

He. Can't. Ever. Touch. Me.

Warning: Whispers and the Roars is a dark romance. Strong sexual themes and violence, which could trigger emotional distress, are found in this story. The abuse written in this story is graphic and not glossed over, which could be upsetting to some. This story is not for everyone. Proceed with caution.

I’ve never read/ listened to anything like this. I thought the first half was a little slow and odd for a romance but whatever you do - don’t give up on this book. It is so clever.

Wow - that blew my mind

I had heard good things about this book but I was disappointed. I figured out the whole storyline so early on that I found it almost pointless finishing it . I felt like it was missing something .

Boring and predictable

Slow moving, cringe worthy and repetitive. It felt like every second page was the same just in a different setting. The characters are constantly communicating in cringey dialogue and I got two thirds of the way through and gave up, I couldn't stick it out. I only really listened to get to the big twist, which was good but not exactly groundbreaking or shocking.

I can understand why some might like this, but this wasn't for me.

The writing is average, the characters are shallow, some casual anti-asian racism sprinkled in here and there to really top it off. Please be aware that there is sexual violence towards children and incest in this book, no review i saw included this so be warned. Kylie Stewart wasn’t a bad narrator, but I couldn’t get into Eric Rolon as much, although the male protag in this instance was quite one dimensional so maybe it was more what he was narrating rather than how he was narrating it

Not sure what the hype is about
