About this listen

A Boston lawyer, Eli has weathered an intense year of public scrutiny and police investigations after being accused of - but never arrested for - the murder of his soon-to-be-ex wife.

He finds sanctuary at Bluff House, even though his beloved grandmother is in Boston recuperating from a nasty fall. Abra Walsh is always there, though. Whiskey Beach’s resident housekeeper, yoga instructor, jewelry maker, and massage therapist, Abra is a woman of many talents - including helping Eli take control of his life and clear his name. But as they become entangled in each other, they find themselves caught in a net that stretches back for centuries - one that has ensnared a man intent on reaping the rewards of destroying Eli Landon once and for all.…

Easy to listen to. The story keeps you coming back and you can easily binge the entire book without noticing the time. Loveable characters and easy to follow the story.

EXCELLENT MURDER MYSTERY

I had trouble with some of the voices in this book. Too many sounding like grumpy old men

I've read this book many times, as it is one of my favourites by this author, though I haven't listened before. The narrator was awesome, one of the best I have come across. The voices were clearly defined. You could tell when a female was speaking, etc.

Awesome narrator!

This was a great romance/who dunnit but I struggled with the narrator as he made Abra sound smarmy …. Nora’s books all require softer voices but the story kept me interested until the end!

Loved the story

This isn’t my favourite Nora Roberts book, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I did find Eli’s character to be somewhat two dimensional and Abra annoyed me from time to time with unexplored opportunities for character development. But this opinion may have been influenced by the narrator’s performance of her character. The narrator was excellent (really good) with the male voices and I loved the way he didn’t just read the book, the genuinely performed it. But this female voices sounded irritatingly silly in my opinion. I almost gave up on the book in the first couple of chapters because of this, but his performance with the male characters and the narration was enough to carry it through.

Great Story

Nora Roberts doesn’t miss a beat once again with this captivating romantic/murder mystery novel. Her story-telling and attention to detail is remarkable. I was surprised to hear a male narrator, but Luke Daniels performed flawlessly and brought the dialogue to life with excellent character acting, and a lot of flair. I will be looking to see what else he has narrated. A thoroughly enjoyable “read”!

Simply superb romantic/mystery writing

I love this story but now it’s forever been ruined for me just because of the choice of narrator. This audiobook would have been so much better with a female voice or even just a female narrator for the female characters (though even the male voices were strange). I realise Nora Roberts probably has no say in who narrated this book but I don’t think she’d be impressed.

Narrator ruined this wonderful story for me

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for some time but this book I found long winded and predictable. The main characters were annoying, Abra was just too unbelivable and too flowery with too many fingers in too many pies, and those post its... dont get me started on those. Although the narrator was clear and concise I found his female voices to be a little masculine. The detective in charge, Wolf, was just mean. I love audible books and this one will not stop me from being a Nora fan and would love to hear this narrator with a different author and style of book.

Not the best Nora ....
