Publisher's Summary

In a gritty and cautionary tale, a former drug dealer must deal with ghosts from his past when he's reunited with one of his best customers.

Smoke used to supply Breanne with crack so she could block out an existence she couldn't escape from, and he was hungry enough to take anything she had to offer in exchange for his magic rocks. Fast-forward 16 years and Breanne is back to tell him he is the father of her 16 -year-old son.

Pleasantly surprised

I chose this book after reading the summary. I read a lot of "street/hood" fiction i.e. Ca$h... Wahida Clark...T. Styles... when I just want to be entertained, but this author's style is different. I wanted something that would be a little easier listening while I'm sitting in my car eating my sandwich on my lunch break. I was so surprised at how this audio book grabbed me somewhere around the 6th or 7th chapter and I could not stop listening. Smoke and Ann developed a such a realistic chemistry. Ann is soooo darned stubborn she really reminds me of another very independent woman who sometimes needs to be reminded that it is okay to let your guard down sometimes.
Anyway back to the book, I really liked how the the characters would be scattered at times an the author skillfully pulled it all back together again, and the story made since the whole time. Great job Ms. Little! We want more!

Just OK

No drastic wow moments ... a good read if you like books without a plot twist here and there

Excellent

This book is so good. 😊I laughed from the beginning to the end. I love Big Momma. I was so proud of Ann, that's a good mother. I was so proud of Smoke, he put some fathers to shame. I truly enjoyed. The characters were awesome. The book is worth the credit. I bought book two and I am excited to start it. I hope you download some more books by this author. 💘 Love love this book.

Feel Good Black Story

What makes Where There’s Smoke stand out is that is that it is an urban story that presents POSITIVE black relationships within the context of the REALITIES of our community. It’s a love story. It’s a story about redemption. It’s a story about father son relationships when the father hasn’t always been there. It’s a story about family. It’s a story about forgiveness. It’s a story that has you rooting for the characters throughout the book. Can’t wait to listen to Where There’s Smoke 2! Terra Little does an excellent job writing the story and Mishi LaChappelle does an excellent job telling the story.

Come back girl

I love the story line it’s never to late to change your life.
The age old lighter than a brown paper bag test causes division in a family. My heart breaks at the miss treatment and bullying effects on a young BreeAnn.
The direction it sends her life falling into. The drugs that have poisoned her and the black community as a whole bringing violence and havoc.
Thru strong support of a loving Aunt Bobbie Ann is born. Her success in over coming is a great testament to you’re the captain of you own ship, and black skin is not an excuse for failure. All the characters make this story a book worth listening to.
