Pretty sure i missed a few look outs deep into this book not wanting to stop listening, relatable & subtly sweet this book was great company on the winding roads & clear skies of the Australian countryside.

Haley Cass may well be the finest writer in sapphic fiction today and she certainly brings out the very best in Lori Prince, who narrates this lovely story so beautifully.

I liked the story. The inner monologues were repetitive but I enjoyed the suspense. The narrator sounded like she had gotten the characters confused at some points and I had to quickly go back to double check who was saying what.

I think this could make a good film.

The story is centred around the holidays leading up to the Christmas season, but really you can read it at any time of the year. It involves a divorce and a divorce lawyer who falls for her client. It’s told from the lawyer’s point of view, with whom you immediately side. It’s a story full of burgeoning longing and angst. The reader feels for the protagonist, as she struggles through the unfolding situations from client to friend to wanting the ‘ever after’. It’s also about the inner strength and fortitude of women and the love that can blossom from understanding and kindness. As usual, Lori Prince brings the story to life with her wonderful narration.

Hayley Cass is definitely my new favourite sapphic author. Her characters are beautifully written and relatable, and the story lines are engaging and thoughtfully crafted. I’m working my way through all of her books now and loving every minute.

Lori’s narration is phenomenal too. Her timing and delivery is spot on and she makes listening a pure pleasure.

Haley Cass, you’ve done it again! I just adore how easily you write contemporary queer romance. And I think this might be my favourite. Also, the narration was on point, as always.
