Publisher's Summary

Survival. It's a concept these high school students never had to consider - until their plane crashes in a remote rainforest with no adults left alive. With many of them falling prey to threats from both the jungle and man, they soon realize that danger comes in many sinister forms.

Tom Calloway didn't want to go on a field trip to Costa Rica, but circumstances had him ending up sitting in the back of the plane - which was the only part that was intact after the crash in the remote South American wilderness. Tom and a small group of his classmates are fortunate to be alive, but their luck quickly runs out when some of them fall prey to the unfamiliar threats of the jungle - animals, reptiles, insects, and even the unforgiving heat. Every decision they make could mean life or death.

As the days go by and the survivors' desperation grows, things get even more perilous. Not everyone can cope with the trauma of seeing their friends die, and a struggle for leadership soon pits them against each other. And when they come across evidence of other people in the middle of the rainforest, does that mean they're safe - or has their survival come to an even more vicious end?

Incredible

I am still speechless in terms of how little things can have such a big impact. This was indeed an incredible novel, very gripping from the beginning until the end.

Suspenseful and Gripping

Another superb book by a fantastic author! Could not stop listening to this gripping and suspenseful story! The characters are so real like, and we all know people like the ones who are represented here. Even though this book has a cast of teens, I am a grandmother and coul still relate! Will did an excellent job of narrating....from inflections to accents! Cannot recommend this book enough!

Exciting and revealing

I think this book is one of the most riveting I’ve read in a very long time. The strength and character of Tom is amazing throughout the story. And not in a disturbing way. NowJoel, on the other hand. And I love a book with a dog! Enjoy. .

Would definitely recommend!!

This book was well written and read (by audible). For my first audible experience, I’d definitely do it again. The story is an adventure, a tale of ups and downs through the jungle. I got hooked and couldn’t stop listening to this book! I love how it circles around at the end (don’t worry this doesn’t really spoil anything!) and really wraps the whole thing up:)

Ah, Youth...

This is more accurately a YA novel. Its themes are typical middle school fare. Not poorly written, not a waste of time, just simplistically presented in black and white terms for the 12 to 16 year old set.

Not your typical teens

It took me quite a long time to get into this book. The teens were far more advanced than teens are in real life and it made the characters not believable. For example, their insights were clear and very advanced for teens. Their capacity to anticipate certain events, take medical care of each other, extensive knowledge of the local reptiles and animals and plants, etc were not likely how actual teens in that situation would act. In my opinion the story would have been more believable if the characters had been adults.

Boring and predictable

Reminded me of a teenage version of the TV show Lost. Disappointing book and predictable

Gripping

Not normally a book I would choose but I picked it up in an Audible sale. I must admit that it was a gripping story and I was so engaged and engrossed that I finished listening in just 2 days. Truly a great listen! And my congratulations to the narrator too - fabulous way of capturing the nuances and inflection of each character’s voice. Enjoy!

aircrash

A well narrated story in the vein of lord of the flies. somewhat laboured in parts but well worth a listen/ read.
