My life had changed dramatically since my eyesight loss had progressed. I ventured to my mailbox on an ordinary day without my service dog, King; unaware of the threat to me and the blood of my neighbor still fresh on the murderer's hands. Sensing a presence, I called for King, then 9-1-1.
I saw the murderer by way of smell, taste, hearing, and touch; my remaining senses heightened since my sight loss. King saw him, too.
