Haselböck, der Jandl in langjähriger Bewunderung und Freundschaft verbunden war, konnte den Dichter für eine Werkzusammenstellung mit komponierter und improvisierter Orgelmusik interessieren. In der Zusammenstellung der verwendeten Texte klingt jene Sakralsphäre an, die die Orgel in ihrer Funktion als Kirchen- und Konzertinstrument ambivalent weiterdeutet.
