Publisher's Summary

Medical student Amy Brenner is spending the night on a locked psychiatric ward.

Amy has been dreading her evening working on Ward D, the hospital’s inpatient mental health unit. There are very specific reasons why she never wanted to do this required overnight rotation. Reasons nobody can ever find out.

And as the hours tick by, Amy grows increasingly convinced something terrible is happening within these tightly secured walls. When patients and staff start to vanish without a trace, it becomes clear that everyone on the unit is in grave danger.

Amy’s worst nightmare was spending the night on Ward D.

And now she might never escape.

Not the best

Not sure if it was the audio that made this not one of her best

Predictable but still gripping

Maybe its all the crime shows I consume but this seemed really easy to guess. I did have a little trouble with some of the main character's approaches towards people with mental health problems. They are described as people to be feared rather than how they can be helped and supported. This was a little problematic for me as a mental health worker.

Another good read!

Another gripping twister of a story! The narrator was also a good performer. I enjoyed it

Loved it!!

An easy, gripping and fun (if that’s the right word!) read. The main character is a little irritating at times and the plot does become slightly predictable but I loved every second of this. This would be the perfect holiday on the beach read.

Another fantastic book! So many twists and surprises! Highly recommend! But don’t listen to it alone in the wee hours of the morning - freeekyyyyy :)

Amy really annoyed me and you never new if she was thinking something or really speaking. Could not wait until it had ended

Very twisty and engaging. The narrator was really entertaining. Nothing I didn’t like! Can’t wait to ready another of Freida’s books!

The first Freida I haven’t enjoyed

I’ve recently read 4-5 Freida McFadden books and I’ve been absolutely hooked every single minute to all of them. I have no idea what happened with this book! It’s about Amy, a med student who is doing a rotation in a psych ward, where her ex-best friend is locked up. Amy is the most annoying overly alarmist main character who has virtually zero critical thinking skills and the book is just not engaging, not clever, the twist is predictable and not at all shocking and I really struggled to get through it. I’m not giving up on Freida though, we all have our flops 😂

Cringe, Plot holes. Cringe. Eye roll.

With 34 minutes to go, I considered not finishing it. This is the worst one yet. I said The Inmate would be my last, but this is on a whole other level of bad.
