Story
Teagan Harper is barely ten years old when she finds herself orphaned and sent away to live at Raven's Peak, a Gothic estate on the seaside cliffs of Maine. Soon, though, her heartache and loneliness are tempered by a blossoming friendship with the only other child living at Raven's Peak: Kane Doyle, only two years older than Teagan and abandoned by his mother. Over the years, the pair grows inseparable. First they're pranksters and confidants, but eventually their feelings change, and best friends turn into soul mates.

Story
At fifteen I fell in love. His name was Jake Stephens and he took the abandoned, lonely girl I had been and made me whole. His love was a pure and unconditional love that made every day better than the last; a fairy tale of my very own. But this story isn't about Jake. It's about Abel Madden; the man I meet after the fairy tale goes to hell. A cocky, arrogant man who says what he wants, does as he pleases, and makes no excuses for it. He irritates me--downright pisses me off at times--but he also brings me back to life.

Publisher's Summary
Saffron Mills has lived all of her almost thirty years in Harrington, Maine - a small town where fishing is plenty, but available men are far too few. Yet it's not just her dating dry spell that draws her to recent arrival Logan MacGowan. Tall, dark, and handsome, with emerald-green eyes and an impossibly hot body, Logan is a gorgeous enigma whose silence she takes for indifference...until one unforgettable chance meeting, when pent-up attraction ignites into the most intense encounter of her life.
In this quiet, quirky town, no one knows that Logan's alter ego is famous sculptor and tabloid darling David Cambre. In New York, he had all the wrong kind of attention, but in Harrington, he's found peace, privacy...and Saffron. She's witty, forthright, and so much sexier and stronger than she knows. But how do you protect the love you've been waiting for when your own lifestyle could be destined to rip it apart?

fairytale with a twist
I thought it was going to be all lollipops and rainbows and after reading glasses the damaged series I slowed my pace on this one . had a decent grip on turn of events .
not sure about 1st person POV from only the heroine I feel the accent and lack of male timbre left me want get more.
I do prefer ms fiore's writing in the damaged series mode and shipwrecked.....even the dark romance savage had the grit I like from this author

A SEAMLESS COMPELLING STORY THAT DRAWS YOU IN
You really get a feel for this small town in Maine and it's quirky inhabitants, monthly weird and wonderful Festivals and the total lack of eligible men. Then there's the feisty and funny bartender Saffron who's had to resort to online dating with funny and disastrous encounters. Scottish handsome Logan has been coming into the bar for six months, he's mysterious, he's been watching Saffron and he talks to other people but not her - even though she carries on talking to him and baiting him to speak to her with one-way conversations, jokes and her life's anecdotes. That is until there's a food fight down Main Street during the Swordfish Festival which finally breaks his resolve..... and from then on it's a tender beautiful love story.
There's fun, drama, angst, life threats, secrets, mystery, danger, heartbreak, great secondary characters and Logan and Saffron a loveable couple who fall deeply in love..... but sadly it's a doomed relationship from the start. As well as that, there is a very poignant tragic sad love story between her Father figure of a friend who is over 90 and that storyline is threaded throughout the main story. Told from Saffron's POV with some funny internal thoughts by her and it's really well narrated by Cris Dukehart who easily managed all the various different accents called for.
Worth a credit? Oh YEAH it definitely would have been but it was a bargain at under $10 and so I saved my credit for a higher priced listen but one that may not be as well-written, entertaining, amusing and as enjoyable as this was.

I want to live here!
Second Read: This was just as good the second time. The only thing I would add to my review is two things: I need to mention how I loved the way Saffron responded to conflict in their relationship. It's the one thing I find lacking in most books. I hate when the heroine doesn't stand up for herself or doesn't call the hero out on his behavior and do it in a mature way. I loved it.
The second thing was the narrator. I loved her. I think she actually enhances this story and that is not something I can always say in an audiobook. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook.
First Read: This a new favorite of mine. I easily got lost inside the story. I loved the characters and the description of the town. The author drew me in and made me want to live there and get to know each of these characters. Great book!

SUPER FUNNY but so far fetched
This was not my Fiore. I LOVED COLLECTING THE PIECES, I love several others that are hers , but this one just ticked me off different times (so improbable) when it wasn't making me laugh. I'm returning. sorry -just not my thing

Every emotion known to man is here!!
No words to elaborate how this book makes me feel. L.A. Fiore is a genius! I laughed out loud, was ready to fight with Saffron to help her win the battles. And I cried when all hope was lost! This is definitely one I will listen to again, and again!

Emotionally Riveting!
What a rollercoaster! This book pulls at all of your emotions. Even though it has it's slow moments you easily forget them when the heat turns up. A bit of a Cinderella story, despite some of the hopeless events that set the characters apart, this book too ends with a HEA.
I highly recommend this book to readers and the audio book is great too! It has made my reread and favorite audio lists.
