Publisher's Summary

To catch a villain, sometimes you have to become one.

Bailey's back! From the best-selling author of Jailbird.

Detective Constable Bailey Morgan is back doing what she does best - working undercover. This time she has to infiltrate the inner circle of a notorious underworld family. Posing as a fellow villain, she is on a one-woman mission to bring the family to their knees.

But things are never that simple. Bailey finds that she is forced to confront shadowy wraiths from her past and will come face-to-face with a set of devastating revelations that will shatter her world and threaten her very existence.

With only herself to trust, Bailey is on her own and the stakes are higher than ever.

Heart-stopping and gripping. Perfect for the fans of hit TV shows such as Line of Duty and Gangs of London.

This was a good story. Thought plot was over the top in places. In saying that was still enjoyable. Enjoyed from start to finish.. Narration very good.

unnecessary language

I really liked the story a lot. The only complaint I have is language. Over use of the offensive "f" word. Is there really no other verbage able to express the situational emotions.

Never a dull moment!

I thought I would give this 5 stars if it stands alone. I love the author and the narrator gets 5 stars as I love her! It’s exciting until the last minute however I had just listened to her previous book and she repeats a lot of phrases. I do enjoy having the same heroine as the author really knows how to spin a tale:)

Gripping performance

It never ceases to amaze me how an excellent vocal performance can elevate even the most pedestrian manuscript. Even though the writing was just plain bad, at points, and the ultimate showdown with the crime family more implausible than the cheesiest tv movie, the book did contain several alluring elements: a strong (if at times unbelievably dense) central female character facing an evil female opponent, a third protagonist revealed to be a woman, and a male love interest who turns out to be a bad guy — how refreshing is that! was continually enthralled by the reader. A fine vocal performance.

Disappointing after the first book

I was really looking forward to listening to this book after I enjoyed the author's first novel Jailbird. I guess this was quite entertaining but the story was totally ridiculous and the cockney accents were irritating (apart from Nancy's voice which was good).

Irritating narrator

This book had great reviews but I found the narrator’s style really irritating. Her delivery was so slow and without emotion I couldn’t stand it and gave up. Disappointed as the story itself sounded so good.

Unrealistic in many ways

This book has threads of an interesting story running through it, but the many twists are obvious but totally unbelievable. But my main gripe with this book is the narration. Every gangster talks like a comic stereotypical parody, which I imagine is supposed to be menacing, but just isn't. Sorry, but cannot recommend this book.

Narration just annoying

Quite a good story line albeit rather far fetched and irritating with the constant repitition of Mr Figgis.

The narrator has a good clear speaking voice and when she is not trying to create tension and drama is pleasing to listen to. However the technique of dramatic pause on every word in a failed attempt to add tension and pace DOES NOT WORK. The phrasing is just all wrong. I wonder if the narrator listened to it herself.

times as there were so many different characters of different genders and backgrounds. It was an interesting story

Good story

Narration is good. Found myself wanting Bailey's sister to stay around. I hope Bailey has her sister as a guardian angel, watching her back like Frank does.
