Publisher's Summary

Vainqueur Knightsbane is your average dragon: A giant, fire-breathing lizard who loves to take naps on his golden hoard, kidnap princesses for fun, and make the life of adventurers miserable. Vainqueur's only pleasure in life is to watch his treasure get bigger, one coin at a time.

So when a would-be thief turned unwilling minion tells him about "classes", "levels", and "quests", Vainqueur wonders if maybe, just maybe, he should consider a career change.

After all, why bother hunting monsters for free when you can get paid for it?

great and fun read

it might not be a work of a generation but it is exceptionally fun to read. it takes common rpg elements and puts in a twist. this is a great book for younger generations who specifically like games as they will get the book. I would highly recommend

Interesting + amusing.

Not much to say, lt explains the various perspectives and motives as they become relevant to the story. the premise is surreal as everything is a bit cliche and there are alot of earth type references due to a bunch of reincarnators migrating over. victor and vain make an unlikely duo. story wise it might be good if vain got some more intelligence as having a low intel score detracts from some of the more funny moments.

Loved It. took me by surprise.

I was skeptical about purchasing this book but am very glad that I did. It was done surprisingly well. It was a good performance. Also very funny at times. A little dark humor goes a long way with me sometimes.

A must listen! Top book so far this year

Okay so a Dragon as an adventurer absolutely love it! The MC is so amazing and hilarious with how he thinks. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it for anyone who loves LITRPG !!!! So technical note. The audio book performance has several faults in it. Multiple times the wrong voice was used. But it is not a deal breaker for me. I hope their is better QA for book 2

Interesting and fresh

I love books that follow Non-human main characters. Following a friggin dragon is really very epic. This book is certainly like none I have ever read. I look forward to book 2. The 15 hours I spent with it was well worth it. Jack Voraces is a very good narrator. I have listened to several books by him and he never disappoints. This audiobook is well worth your credit or hard-earned dollars.

good

Well written and narrated. some minor errors like in the beginning the MC is from London, and near the end he says he wants to get back to his home in the USA.

I was wary at first, but I really enjoyed it. Loved the MC (both) and had some genuine laugh out loud moments. Witty and fun.

This is a gem

I picked this up and expected to listen to this over the space of a week or two but I managed to listen to it in about 2 days, it goes without saying how good this book is.... You have the tale of an egocentric, egotistical and huuugggggely self centred AND STUBBORN (and ignorant) dragon. He forms a partnership with a mere human. I say partnership what I mean is a king and a minion contract. (They are a hilarious pair) This book is amazing it is hilarious and entertaining and the story/journey makes sense. The author created a gem! Moreover the narrator has done an amazing job creating vivid character voices and loveable minions!! haha Mooorrreeee! I want more!!!!! Warning! Please listen somewhere in private becuase random spurts of laughter will occur.

An entertaining take on litrpg

I received a review copy of this fun and entertaining book. The dragon is delightfully clueless and the "hero" is along for the literal ride. The narration is excellent, with the dragon and other non human creatures all given their own styles that bring the story to life. The only issue I had with the book were a couple of points in the first half where some twists and scene changes felt a little jarring.

It's different!

It's amusing and the narrator did an excellent job but I find it difficult to follow sometimes, it jumps to chapters without continuation, like where did the Wyvern come from, and after killing the Duchess how did the end up under attack in their cave? I really liked the 5 Cobalds, they are funny.

A thoroughly enjoyable and funny Litrpg romp.

Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of this audiobook free of charge in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I don't think I've ever come across a book like this before.. So a player in an MMORPG describes levelling-Up to an in-game character and inadvertently makes them self-aware but, unfortunately, the character is a Dragon. So begins the player's servitude to the (self-professed) greatest calamity of the age and his sudden lust to become the ruler of all that he can (and can't yet) see. What begins with the Dragon and Victor forming an adventuring party soon leads to burnt lands, warring nations and an empire of werewolves, demons and the undead. The situations that the pair find themselves in are varied, imaginative and wonderfully well thought-out considering that each one has to fit a small squishy human and a vastly overpowered creature the size of a cruise ship but at no point did I feel that one of the pair was given the short-end of the stick and I thoroughly enjoyed every situation they found themselves in, whether together or apart. For a book with such a hugely varied cast of characters and creatures, it would be extremely easy to lose track of the cast but the excellent narration provided by Jack Voraces ensures this isn't the case and regardless of race, gender (or indeed alive or dead) each one felt wholly individual and in fact family members who heard the book refused to believe it was all the work of one man. I came into the story thanks to the cover art which is fantastic and stayed for the fantastic story and presentation and look forward to whatever Maxime Durand releases next and will also be checking out many more of Jack Voraces' work too.

fun and interesting take on litrpg, with dragons!

A strange world where humans get reincarnated into heroes to help the humanoid races against the fairies, our "hero" gets caught by a dragon while trying to steal a rapier for a quest and accidentally introduces the dragon to hero classes, questing and other such "mortal" concepts. Great fun and well voiced, taking the piss out of litrpg basic ideas

Overall a great story with good, fleshed out characters Some really funny parts and a great world to explore But without a doubt Jack Voraces’ narration is the best ever The voice effects, which I thought would be grating, really added to My enjoyment Top job
