Nicht das Individuum zählt dort, sondern das Kollektiv. So berichtet zumindest der angeblich weit gereiste Begleiter Amerigo Vespuccis, der die paradiesische Insel mit eigenen Augen gesehen haben will. Mit eindringlicher Stimme macht Ulrich Matthes dieses "Utopia" lebendig, das namensgebend für ein ganzes literarisches Genre wurde.
