Publisher's Summary

Ruth Soukup, a New York Times best-selling author and founder of the wildly popular blog LivingWellSpendingLess.com, knows all too well just how overwhelming it can feel to have a home - and life - filled with too many things. Through personal stories and practical action plans, she inspires and empowers other women to finally declutter not only their homes but their minds and souls as well. Unstuffed is real and honest and speaks to the heart of the question so many of today's women are asking: How can we take back our lives from all the STUFF that is weighing us down?

From recognizing the pitfalls of overfilled closets to combating the culture of busy that keeps women running from one thing to the next to finding life balance by learning how to let go of unhealthy habits and stress, listeners will journey with Ruth as they overcome chaotic, out-of-control schedules, overstuffed homes, and undernourished souls.

Can't tell a book by it's cover!

There was so much reference to Christianity and Jesus particularly st the end of the book. You would never know that this would be a theme in a book about getting uncluttered or unstuck.

I am Jewish and really preferred not hearing about going to church. The uncluttered part was good but you should have left out the religion!

Started great, ended too personal and religious

For the most part this book provides solid guidance on how to declutter your life. I liked that the book walks you through the thought process and justification for clearing out your home, business, or whatever of physical objects. It changed my perception on a few common issues involving clutter and organization and I was able implement meaningful changes. However, after this section the book turned to personal relationships. This is where things quickly deteriorated for me. It got very personal (way too much information) and very religious (preachy but not pushy) for my type of interest in the book. Overall the advice throughout the book was reasonably valid but the author nearly lost all credibility towards the end. I'd recommend giving this book a shot at a local library or scanning it in a book store before making the purchase to make sure it fits your expectations first.

Worked for me!

I listened to this one very quickly. I really like this narrator because she sounds so relatable. The tips were VERY useful and my house has stayed clean and far more organized since I finished the book.
There are a lot of little references to bible passages, but if you listen to the entire book, you'll understand that the author is not preachy, just true to herself. I don't like having others beliefs forced on me, but the book didn't make me feel like that at all. I've never read her blog but the book was written in such a way that you didn't need to be up to date on her blog posts.

Fantastic!

Another great book from Ruth! Ruth opens our eyes to the truth behind "our stuff" and not just the ways of getting rid of it.

so much great information!

helped me see the value in not just holding onto stuff. I was able to think through getting gifts for the grand daughters. Mother's asked for now gifts at party's but we had to do something. so we talked and got them tickets to events. so thankful for the help.

Poorly Organized

This book had a great mission, but was very disorganized and poorly executed. I was distracted by the many anecdotes that were introduced only to be expanded upon several chapters later, and I felt that some stories had much more detail than necessary to make her point, such as the cabbage patch doll story. I also felt that the story about her past should have been much closer to the beginning of the book, and overall this should have been packaged more as a memoir than a general self-development book. There were definitely some good ideas in this here, but there are many other books in which to find inspiration for decluttering and minimalism that are better written.

Exactly what I needed to start truly decluttering!

This is not a step-by-step guide for decluttering BUT I found it was something that I needed to finally start having success in the difficult process of decluttering. I accepted that I wouldn't ever have a clean & organized home because I simply had TO MUCH STUFF. Not all clutter is junk or trash, and that was my biggest problem, and this book opened my eyes to the truth I needed.
