About this listen

Moira Hayes hadn't seen Kenneth Woodfall in nearly eight years...nor did she want to see this man who stirred such feelings of anger in her. After all, he was the reason, though indirectly, for her brother's death.

But Kenneth isn't willing to forget the past, a time he shared with his first and only love, Miss Moira Hayes. Kenneth is more than willing to forgive. If only Moira can, too....

Love the narrator, she is very talented and one believes the voices to be from different people.

The storyline was refreshingly different.

As I quite often find in some of these romances the women are portrayed less sympathetically than the men. They are often said to be fiesty when all they are is unreasonably stubborn. In this story Kenneth acts poorly, especially in the hut, (I found that whole scenario odd in the way it played out), and in his manner at times but it fits with his character and his background. He then goes on a clear journey of realisation and change bit by bit, which I felt was sympathetic and realistic. He also has more empathy for his heroine. On the other hand Moira maintains a level of hostility for far too long in her journey. She also behaves badly but despite admitting fault to herself she's unable to apologise, and is often defensive or attacking for no really good reason. One would expect more maturity to have developed in the 8 years since they originally parted. It's only at the end of the story that she suddenly develops powers of insight, rather than them developing along the way despite hours of the story devoted to what she's thinking.

A good story but could have been better.

Book 2 - great story about friendship through our life and how someone’s else’s revenge causes undo grief and heartache. Families and how they cause pain as well. But totally loved the book as it shows how people can confront past pain and learn to forgive and grow and build a better life.
