Publisher's Summary

Ian Whitworth built national companies from nothing. Coronavirus hammered some of them flat. Yet he's fine with that. Because when the chaos is swirling and shit is getting real, there's opportunity. Now is the time to put yourself in control - where no boss or virus can take you down.

So many talented people want to give it a shot, yet they're held back by the big business myths. But success is simpler than your crusty CEO wants you to think. Ian built his businesses on simple rules, Year Six maths, basic decency and no jargon. It generated profits that made the bank people say: 'We've never seen anything like this before.'

Ian's advice is so listenable that many of his listeners have no interest in commerce, they just like his dry humour and guidance on living a better life. He takes you step-by-step through the whole entrepreneur experience, from the day you open the doors through to when you pay others to run the place for you.

There are 60 short and often surprising chapters in the trademark style of his popular Motivation for Sceptics blog, from 'Your Success Goals Are Built on Lies' to 'Business Whack-A-Mole Skills' and 'Remote Work Sucks Unless You're Old'.

Whether you're running your own business, leading someone else's or freelancing, Undisruptable is the only handbook you need. And one you'll actually enjoy listening to the end.

Honest and entertaining

Honest and down to earth business and life advice based on actual experience. It’s a stand out in a world a wash with inspirational books which are more car sales man like than actual practical advice. It’s entertaining, and I’ll have to buy the book now because I forgot to take notes! Really enjoyed listening.

Strong case for business book of the year

Thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend.
Ian has found a way to distill the seemingly unattainable down to “hey, I could do that”.

Other than a few cracks at lawyers (we’ll get over it), it is an absolute page turner. Particularly loved the audiobook, where the jokes and punchlines were delivered as the author intended (because he is also the narrator).

Buy this one.

Informative and entertaining

This book helps you rethink what is important in business and the way you can approach business management.

At the same time it's entertaining to the point of making me laugh out loud.

Enjoy.

Loved this! funny and lots of biz and life truths

A very funny book with lots of business and life truths. Well worth it! My wife enjoyed it as well as we listened to it on a long car journey and she doesn't usually like my audiobooks. Nice work.

Great listen, great simple content.

Love it when the author also reads the book as you get the true expressions on what they are trying to convey. One of the best.

The best business book I’ve read in ages

Undisruptable is one of those books that was unfortunately overlooked because of the pandemic.

The author took on narrating his own book, and this really added to the impact. Ian has a delivery style that takes even some of the most dry business advice (finance) and makes it engaging.

The advice and supporting stories shows the hard earned knowledge of the author, and makes it all much more memorable.

If you’re thinking of starting a business, or wanting to try and work out how to improve your business, then I would recommend this audiobook.

Easy listening, practical and very Australian book

Ian's voice and his opinions on business are very easy to listen to - so much so that I was able to get through all 7 or so hours in 2 days while multitasking.

The book has many practical tips, which are not groundbreaking but that seems to be the point. The take home message to me was to demystify and simplify the idea of business.

The book also has a focus on being a decent human being. Ian's perspective is outward looking to the impact of business interactions on others. This is not the classic motivational speaker type business book encouraging introspection 'finding your why' 'image yourself having already achieving your goals' and so on.

I loved the Australian manner of speaking and turns of phrase. The sarcastic humour throughout is also very engaging - I had to take my earbuds out and play some parts to my husband because he wanted to know why I was laughing!

Read this if you are starting a business

Great practical tells it like it is about starting a business . You don’t have to agree with everything Ian says - I don’t agree that morning routine is a waste of time but there is many pearls of wisdom here and most of it is basic human to human skills like be good.

Awesome read
