Publisher's Summary

Love him or loathe him, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson is an icon and one of the most fascinating sporting figures of our time.

In this no-holds-barred autobiography, Tyson lays bare his demons and tells his story: from poverty to stardom to hell and back again.

In his first autobiography, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson pulls no punches and lays bare the story of his remarkable life and career.

Co-written with Larry Sloman, author of Antony Keidis's best-selling memoir Scar Tissue, this is a visceral, and unpause-able story of a man born and raised to brutality, who reached the heights of stardom before falling to crime, substance abuse and infamy.

Full of all the controversy and complexity that you would expect from a man who delighted as much as he shocked, this is a book that will surprise people and reveal a fascinating character beneath the exterior of violence.

If you think you know all about Mike Tyson, listen to this book and think again.

Interesting but far too long

Very interesting read on his upbringing, developing into a champion and struggles post career. However, the second half of the book was far too long. There are so many stories about hookers, drugs and alcohol which are all the same.

Amazing he lived as long as he has.

Great story, great warrior, questionable character but this is as honest and raw as Mike always is. See the extents he went to to keep his lifestyle. Shame its not narrated by him

Revealing

Tyson really puts himself out there in this book. A tad repetitive but insightful and especially if you’re a boxing fan or even 80s pop culture

Brutally Raw Account of a deeply troubled life

Well worthy of the time investment for fans and others of the inimitable Mike Tyson. Very glad to have been on board for the ride, very little of which slows down. An awesome insight.

train wreck.

it's a train wreck with impact and consequences. in the end, the Human core can not be changed, but you put controls in place to manage it best you can. But every now and then you slip back to your default setting. Very good honest life story. you start at the bottom, reach the top and settle somewhere in the middle. All the best champ👍🙏🙏

Once started, couldn't put the book down

I didn't expect how honest & engaging this book would be. No filters. A once-in-a-decafe story told in an engaging manner. Just like a friend would be telling this in a night bar, where no one is around. Mike, thank you!

Colossal Book

Great narrator, loved Mike training with Cus, the chapter where he is in jail and the 3 last chapters which shows Mike struggle with heavy drug addiction and sex addiction.

KO realism

If I had bought the print version I would have struggled to put it down. The story telling is so visual, it’s a roller coaster that sent me from intense laughter to tears and back chapter by chapter. The man is a living legend. The pain and demons are real. We probably have a Mike Tyson hidden in all of us. Thanks Mike for your gut wrenching honesty. I wish you and your family love and peace.

Tyson fan before and more after reading the book

I've always been a Tyson fan since I was a kid. He will always be one of the most exciting boxers to watch in my mind. I got to know more about him after reading the book and wish him all the best. Hope he finds peace and happiness--that I believe is just as cool as finding success in the limelight. Cheers!! 👊😉

Why didn't he read it?

If Mike Tyson had read it himself I would have enjoyed it much much more.

An extremely open account of a rollercoaster life!

Would you consider the audio edition of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography to be better than the print version?

I have never read the printed version so I cannot really comment, but the narration on this audio edition is excellent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography?

I honestly couldn't specify one particular part of the book, the whole story is gripping. From Tyson's childhood memories, training, fights and his battle with women, drugs & alcohol. A fantastic listen!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

As I said above, it's difficult to identify specific parts, however, the accounts of his relationship with Cus D'Amato and how he built Tyson both physically and, probably even more so mentally, into the fighter who became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world was brilliant listen.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both! Tyson really has lead an eventful life and this book gives a "warts & all" account of it. He tells the stories of his off the wall life episodes and gives honest explanations of his mental state throughout. It has amusing and extremely moving parts.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant narration and an excellent listen!

A slog!

this book is 30% story of Tysons life and 70% of what sounds like him sitting on a chez long talking to his therapist. A lot of the book is just ranting about the same things over and over and there are a lot of contradictions and repeating. Still some interesting anecdotes and stories but heavily diluted and became more of a chore than an enjoyment

They say you should never meet your heroes...

in the case of the Undisputed Truth by Mike Tyson, this adage rings true for me. All credit to Mr Tyson for the baring of his more than a little tarnished soul: this is a real 'warts and all' litany of misdemeanours, felonies and abuses of privilege, many of which he appears to be unjustly proud. The narrator did a great job of allowing the listener to hear a badly done to Mike Tyson coming across throught the performance. If you believe that an disadvantaged upbringing excuses all then go ahead and enjoy. If, like me, you have at any time admired Mike Tyson the boxer then think twice about selecting this book. There is little to admire about the man and, I am quite ashamed to say, I now find myself with no sympathy for his issues and problems and absolutely no way to empathise whith anything that he has been through. With the benefit of hindsight, this is a book that I would rather not have selected and given 20 hours of my life to. That is not to say that it is badly written or performed, or that it does not flow well; it is simply that, having met my hero though this volume, I find him to have not only feet but a conscience of clay!
