Publisher's Summary

Love him or loathe him, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson is an icon and one of the most fascinating sporting figures of our time.

In this no-holds-barred autobiography, Tyson lays bare his demons and tells his story: from poverty to stardom to hell and back again.

In his first autobiography, ‘Iron' Mike Tyson pulls no punches and lays bare the story of his remarkable life and career.

Co-written with Larry Sloman, author of Antony Keidis's best-selling memoir Scar Tissue, this is a visceral, and unpause-able story of a man born and raised to brutality, who reached the heights of stardom before falling to crime, substance abuse and infamy.

Full of all the controversy and complexity that you would expect from a man who delighted as much as he shocked, this is a book that will surprise people and reveal a fascinating character beneath the exterior of violence.

If you think you know all about Mike Tyson, listen to this book and think again.

train wreck.

it's a train wreck with impact and consequences. in the end, the Human core can not be changed, but you put controls in place to manage it best you can. But every now and then you slip back to your default setting.
Very good honest life story. you start at the bottom, reach the top and settle somewhere in the middle.
All the best champ👍🙏🙏

A good listen

A story of self loathing and egotistical boasting of life and conquering with a little bit of compassion thrown in. Interesting listen though.

Amazing book, loved it

Really enjoyed this book.an amazing story.Mike Tyson story is very inspiring, and honest. I never got the impression he was bragging as mentioned in other people’s reviews I read before purchasing, I interpreted the descriptions of events as honest reflection on the contrasts that he journeyed throughout his life.

I found it great but its not for everyone.

Mike Tyson might not be for everyone, but I've always liked him so it was easy for me to get into the book. if you're a prude then its not for you as he tells a raw and explicit story about his life and doesn't sugar coat anything!! I liked that about the book...
The narrator was easy to listen to.

This guy has lead an incredible life and has faced many personal struggles. He is very open and honest and full of self reflection and a humbleness that I wasn't expecting. A great listen

Warts and all, an incredible story.

If this was fictional you’d think it was too far fetched. But this is Tyson not holding back on an unbelievable life.

I read this autobiography a few years ago and had to relive it through audio. How do you blow $300 million? Well Tyson does it with ease. Juvenile delinquent, undisputed heavyweight champion, convicted rapist, cocaine addict, alcoholic, sex addict, born again Muslim, actor.

What an incredible life!

Interesting story - flawed man.

Tyson’s lives an interesting life but still fails to take responsibility for most of his actions and spends a lot of time pointing out the flaws in others (particular his ex wife, girlfriends and former business associates) while down playing the impact his drug addictions, rampant cheating, desire to be a gangster, god complex and selfishness contributed to this. The book deviates between repentance and bragging in great detail about the wild parties and drugs making for a jumbled message to readers... is he sorry.. or just just sorry it had to stop?
Even at the end I couldn’t keep track of how many kids Tyson has had and was saddened by how little a part they play in his life. I hope his kids have someone in their life who cares about them. Also whoever ghost wrote this should have cut waaaay down on some of the romantic prose. The book jumps a few times out of pure Tyson into an English major who needs to put away the thesaurus.

KO realism

If I had bought the print version I would have struggled to put it down.
The story telling is so visual, it’s a roller coaster that sent me from intense laughter to tears and back chapter by chapter.
The man is a living legend.
The pain and demons are real.
We probably have a Mike Tyson hidden in all of us.
Thanks Mike for your gut wrenching honesty.
I wish you and your family love and peace.

Tyson fan before and more after reading the book

I've always been a Tyson fan since I was a kid. He will always be one of the most exciting boxers to watch in my mind. I got to know more about him after reading the book and wish him all the best. Hope he finds peace and happiness--that I believe is just as cool as finding success in the limelight. Cheers!! 👊😉

Why didn't he read it?

If Mike Tyson had read it himself I would have enjoyed it much much more.

An extremely open account of a rollercoaster life!

Would you consider the audio edition of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography to be better than the print version?

I have never read the printed version so I cannot really comment, but the narration on this audio edition is excellent.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Undisputed Truth: My Autobiography?

I honestly couldn't specify one particular part of the book, the whole story is gripping. From Tyson's childhood memories, training, fights and his battle with women, drugs & alcohol. A fantastic listen!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

As I said above, it's difficult to identify specific parts, however, the accounts of his relationship with Cus D'Amato and how he built Tyson both physically and, probably even more so mentally, into the fighter who became the youngest heavyweight champion of the world was brilliant listen.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both! Tyson really has lead an eventful life and this book gives a "warts & all" account of it. He tells the stories of his off the wall life episodes and gives honest explanations of his mental state throughout. It has amusing and extremely moving parts.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant narration and an excellent listen!

They say you should never meet your heroes...

in the case of the Undisputed Truth by Mike Tyson, this adage rings true for me.

All credit to Mr Tyson for the baring of his more than a little tarnished soul: this is a real 'warts and all' litany of misdemeanours, felonies and abuses of privilege, many of which he appears to be unjustly proud. The narrator did a great job of allowing the listener to hear a badly done to Mike Tyson coming across throught the performance.

If you believe that an disadvantaged upbringing excuses all then go ahead and enjoy. If, like me, you have at any time admired Mike Tyson the boxer then think twice about selecting this book. There is little to admire about the man and, I am quite ashamed to say, I now find myself with no sympathy for his issues and problems and absolutely no way to empathise whith anything that he has been through.

With the benefit of hindsight, this is a book that I would rather not have selected and given 20 hours of my life to. That is not to say that it is badly written or performed, or that it does not flow well; it is simply that, having met my hero though this volume, I find him to have not only feet but a conscience of clay!

Great book amazing story

I loved this book. I think it's the best audible book I have heard.

It's kind of divided into 2 parts. Part 1 is about Mike's upbringing, his discovery of boxing and his rise to the top.

Part 2 is his life after boxing, mainly his journey into substance addiction and recovery.

Tyson had a unique experience in the limelight that is well documented here. He entered a world where he had it all and was for a while one of the most recognisable people on the planet. He is an icon of the 80s and he has some great anecdotes to tell throughout this 20 hour monster of a book. He doesn't hold back, and the stories are graphic and honest.

The narrator does a brilliant job.
